Today's 5 pm summer league game is a big one. Our two ways will be getting huge opportunities this year. Right now Marcus Garrett is already ahead of Vincent imo. He can play PG and run with Herro. The other player I have a close eye on is Deeky Jarreau. Even if the signings of Garrett and Jarreau seem repetitive they can play the wing spot as well at there height.

I agree with not expecting a 15th player as of now, if Miami had plans going over the tax they would have paid Nunn to stay. I'd guess Miami will be waiting on Oladipo then eyeing a trade package Herro + a contract like PJ Tucker to add another needed position.

When Haslem signs his contract, the Heat’s roster for next season will stand at 14 players on standard NBA contracts: Jimmy Butler ($36 million for next season), Bam Adebayo ($28.1 million), Kyle Lowry ($27 million), Duncan Robinson ($15.5 million), P.J. Tucker ($7 million), Tyler Herro ($4 million), KZ Okpala ($1.8 million), Markieff Morris (minimum counts as $1.7 million toward salary cap), Dewayne Dedmon (minimum counts as $1.7 million toward salary cap), Victor Oladipo (minimum counts as $1.7 million toward salary cap), Haslem (minimum counts as $1.7 million toward salary cap), Max Strus ($1.7 million), Gabe Vincent ($1.7 million) and Omer Yurtseven ($1.5 million).

The 14 players committed to the Heat for next season combine to total $131.1 million, and that number grows to $136.3 million when including Ryan Anderson’s $5.2 million waive-and-stretch cap hit.

The 2021-22 NBA salary cap is set at $112.4 million and the luxury-tax threshold is at about $136.6 million. But because the Heat is acquiring Lowry through a sign-and-trade transaction, Miami faces a $143 million hard cap.

This leaves the Heat with about $6.7 million to fill out the roster before reaching the hard-cap threshold unless other trades are completed to create additional room.

6.7 and we still have the BAE right?

So that’s 3M for 1 player and then min for another

The BAE is 3.7 and 2.2 left over of the MLE. I'm guessing if a difference maker gets bought out and we have a need then Micky will have to pay the tax. Right now it looks like this is our roster and just finalizing the two ways. Garrett for sure and I guess we find out who gets the other one tonight.

Nembhard is the 2nd youngest player on the Summer league roster by 21 days or so.

I wouldn't worry about PF. But I'm the guy who'd run with Yurt, Bam, But, Duncan, and Lowry as my starters.

Theoretically 2 Centers that can shoot and defend.

Saric tore his ACL in the Finals, so it is likely he'll be out all next year.

UD signing locks up the front court.

I cannot see the Heat going into the tax for this team, so unless we do a trade to reduce salary, this is probably it for now. Heat got good time from their two-way contracts last season, and I expect that to continue with covid-19 protocols and so forth.

Also, to MWP above... Dennis Smith Jr has had plenty of chances already. 2020 & 2021 is the time of Gabe Vincent. Yippee.

You're also the guy who'd have traded everyone to run with a full 15-man roster of players under 25, half of them drafted in 2021.

You can put UD at the end of the depth chart for every position because he's almost as likely to get minutes at PG as PF.

As i said would happen this year. Hero’s live long enough to become villains. If you have to keep a 41 year old non player on the bench to preach culture you have no culture. Slap in the face to the players sitting on the wire right now who can actually play.

UD doesn't bother me at all. That roster spot is useless anyways. I think he is trying to make 20 years.

The comments on twitter flaming the Heat account on the signing of UD  That’s never happened. Fans have had enough of UD gaming the system and the Heat front office enabling it.

So if Miami wants to start that over the tax clock a year early they'll add someone who isn't really going to help them much. Going into the tax isn't a big deal, it is after a few year especially if you're going to go deep into the tax.

What people are missing is the longer view. Miami WILL be going into the tax next year by resigning Oladipo(hope he's good enough to go into the tax for) so while they can be under the tax this year, it's not going to last, they could be adding 15-25 mil a year next year and the year after, PJ comes off but if Herro would be around that's ANOTHER sizable contract(if he gets better) to combine with Oladipo's and the current core of Butler, Bam and Lowry.

Miami "could" go into the tax now and get out of it at sometime during the season but there's really not much in salaries Miami can shed in a trade. All there really is, is minimums(which really doesn't fix anything), Tucker, Herro and I guess both Vincent and Strus.

Why get mad at him? If the Heat offered you $2.6 million to take up a roster spot and sit on the bench all year, would you turn it down?
