I'd match what the Pelicans are offering him. I know we want capspace for our 2014 reload, but even if Oden is a backup big, 3 million is a solid deal (assuming he can actually play)

If at any point in the natural history of the universe we were willing to give Joel Anthony multiple years at $3 million, we should be willing to do the same with Oden.

I actually think a multi-year deal would be win-win. If he's healthy, we've got him at a bargain rate. If he's not, he'll retire and come off the books while insurance picks up the tab.

If he blows out a knee again, he's done.

I don't think Mo is better than Rio. His PER is 1.2pts higher, but last year Rio shot better from 3 on higher volume, and shot 42.9% compared to 43% for Mo, from the field. Mo shot 38% from 3 and Rio was 40%. Mo has a slightly better ast:to ratio, while being significantly worse on defense. If Mo comes for the min, that'd be fine, but I'd also hate to sacrifice Cole's development for that, because Cole is part of our future and Mo isn't.

Not surprised about Camby, still would've liked him in a limited role.

I got a good feeling about Oden though. Hopefully we do whatever it takes to bring him on board, the MMLE isn't too much of a risk if things don't end up well.

At this point it's him or no MMLE.

better shooter from 3 and better defender.

and agree with the second part as well.

You guys do need to remember to add .05 % to these snipers 3pt % due to the LBJ effect

Check out MO"s regular season 3pt %'s when he played with the King. He choked in the postseason though
Stop being so disrespectful.

I am bit bored. Looking at the free agents from Hoopshype:
What about Cole Aldrich?
HoopHype's Scouting wrote:Great size... Good shot-blocking skills... Runs the floor well... Doesn't have much of an offensive game.

Now runs the floor does that mean he he not slow on defensive rotations?

Another big seems like he is a worker. I wanted us to draft him a few years back. Thoughts?

Wow on the GB there is a thread about where Oden might end up and someone actually said
As for the "fun" thing, sorry, Miami is vastly vastly overrated as far as how fun the night life is. For a recovering alcoholic, it might be the better choice... New Orleans isn't the place you want to be if you want to avoid Alcohol, lol

New Orleans has a lot of day drinking, but between South Beach and all the strip clubs in Miami theres no comparison between the two cities. Miami is home to some of the most profitable night clubs in America lol. Guess people forgot that the Mavs had to move up to Broward because their players kept partying.

A 7'0 Joel Anthony would be great for this team, but he's not better than Joel Anthony. Cole Aldrich strengths Joel is better at, but I agree he's not good don't want.

He did say "slow" Joel Anthony, which negates just about all of what makes him any good.

And one was receiving kickouts from LeBron James, while the other was from Gordon Hayward. Can't compare their shooting %.

I would cream my pants if I was in the 305. Step right out the Airplane and stains everywhere stains. Whole bunch of S girls lining up just to clean off the residue off of me, with only their tongue none the less.

Can't we just do a Andrew Bynum kind of deal with Oden. Only guarantee part of the first year and a team option on the second year. That way, If he's good, he has no worries about his money, but if he's bad, it's a low risk move for the heat.

ASK IRA: Should Heat shop now, buy later?
Q: If you think back to some of the past few championships, the winner has picked up a player midseason to help put them over the edge, Rasheed Wallace with the Pistons, P.J. Brown with the Celtics, and now Birdman with the Heat. So wouldn't it be wise to play the waiting game on filling out our roster? -- Scott, Los Angeles.

A: Ding. Ding. Ding. We have a winner. You'd be surprised how much further a mid-level exception might go in February than the dog days of free agency. And Pat Riley has a habit of energizing his product with such mid- or late-season moves. The buyout deadline should not be understated. What you pick up in free agency in August, should not be overstated.

I haven't taken Ira serious since he was clamoring for us to sign Earl Watson

Ira's great at reporting the facts but I take his opinion with a grain of salt, he tends to be very pessimistic and at times overly defensive of the organization (for good reason, but still).

Also for NO vs MIA, it also depends on whether you've got a ton of cash to spend or not. You can have a good time in New Orleans for less money than down here. Of course since we're talking about NBA players, there's no doubt Miami comes out on top.

The problem is, you have to rely on such a player becoming available. Neither Turiaf nor Dampier or Bibby have been that productive for us, at least not to the degree a guy like Birdman, PJ Brown or Rasheed Wallace for their respective teams.
