Riley has always been authoritarian and off putting to players. Remember when Riley would push guys and be super authoritarian with body weight, conditioning, total control of players, and playing through stuff. That's why the Lakers ran him out of town, Magic complained he was "dictatorial and controlling" ......... he has been the same way the entire time.
At the end Riley is right regardless if someone think its mean. Its like running any team or department. You can't let your team set their own rules. Individuals will always look out for themselves. Almost all the former players who clashed with Riley admit that Riley was right. Shaq has admitted it, Walker talk about it in length. Even Bosh who was willing to risk his life admit that Riley was right to push Bosh into retirement. One thing you haven't heard is that Riley is a liar

Yes, exactly. Iguodala has talked about it as well, having played for both the Heat and Warriors... one franchise is about discipline and run like the military while the other is about joy and having fun - opposite approaches but both are considered top organizations, and both have been wildly successful. I think no matter what your messaging is, as long as you are consistent and authentic, people/players will ultimately come to respect it. This is true in real life as well.
Iv been in leadership role in my career for over 25 yrs. People do foul ish to get their way and it has nothing to do with it being a new generation. You have to learn your followers but you also gotta know your own boundaries that work for you. You can not listen to someone say well the other guy does it differently. You can't run your household how someone other family runs their household.

Heat might be playing chess here. Basically telling KD "Hey we still want you. Request that trade to us in the off season". Get KD for cheap assets wise and try to use the remaining assets for a younger future star. I hope.

Man I really hope so, he would be an amazing fit. I just don’t have the confidence in this right now, MWP is 11-0 against them

The Heat been a top four franchise since Riley took over. The Heat are in the top 3 in playoff wins and titles. Heat are in the top 3 in playoff wins in the past 5 yrs.

We won 3 championships and had six appearances. There are a handful of teams who have been as successful as the Heat the last 25 years and a large credit goes to Riley.

I would like for him to seriously consider retirement after this season. It’s time to hand full reigns to Spo or Alonzo, or whoever they feel can continue the culture of the Heat.

Its not just the Jimmy Butler stuff, **** Jimmy Butler. It’s just we need a new fresh vision.

This, it’s time and it’s been time. He fumbled this build. Time after time he has overvalued our own players in negotiations for stars that wanted to come in here and win with us.

Mitchell, didn’t want to send Herro so negotiations never got serious.

KD, just offered Jimmy and JRich. At least toss an asset or in there for a respectable offer.

Dame, lowball offer trying to strong arm a player who only wanted Miami which ended up backfiring. FO Stan’s will say “but Cronin wouldn’t talk to us because he was mad at Dame” no that’s not true, Pat tried to strong arm him and lowball him something serious. Barry literally reiterated this yesterday, it’s not debatable. That’s a top 10 player who filled the biggest need of this team and we completely botched it.

2022 made the finals, made no moves to improve the team that season that could’ve helped in the finals. Don’t care if the team sucked that year when you get Jimmy Bam and Spo in the playoff everyone knows the deal.

Every single season we basically has massive issues at PG and at the 4 and we never did much or anything to address them. The best roster of the Jimmy era was year 1, that should’ve been arguably the worst. Insane that this is the case.

Love Pat, thankful for all he’s done but he’s been bad at his job for awhile now. It’s time for something new, we need someone who isn’t delusional and isn’t afraid to make a move. This likely would’ve led to a championship, instead it led to the 3rd best player in franchise history leaving.

One thing that i dont like, is just the way star players exit the franchise because of his attitude.

If you want to move forward, just have a sit down with the player and agent and tell them listen, thank you for your contributions to the team, but youre at this point of your career, and we need to look into the next era of Heat basketball.

Thats all, thats how you handle the situations with Shaq, Wade, Butler. In a different type of way you can add Lebron and Bosh on how poorly Riley handled those two situations.

Now mind you, i give the majority of the blame to Butler for the way things got ugly, before the season started, he was a player under contract with 2 years 100 million remaining, at the end of his career. The fact the warriors gave him 120 million more is their problem and that franchise fans will turn on them for that decision very soon. And butler behaved and acted like a BITCH on his way out. Like a female

But Riley is not without blame here either, there is a pattern here that cant be ignored. He is too into his “godfather” ways and im not saying we should let the players control the franchise, but we can communicate things better. In his role, you can still be a very strong leader but just be more relatable at the same time.

His age and his ways may not allow him to be. I think you can put Udonis or Alonzo in Pat Rileys role and continue the Heat culture while developing better relationships with the players

Here’s the bottom line really, reports came out today that Jimmy told the Heat in June he wasn’t going to extend, the Heat also apparently didn’t have intentions of extending him. They should have traded him in the summer, it should have never gotten to this point. Sixers were ready to unload the clip for Jimmy (3 1sts I believe) the Knicks tried to get Jimmy before they ultimately traded for Bridges and they gave the Nets 5 1sts. We’d be on here guzzling Pat if he got 3-5 1sts for Jimmy. That would’ve given us so much ammo for these guys who always want Miami but we somehow never have the assets for

I'm hoping and praying man. The roster has the perfect build. Just needs some fire power on offense.

why didn't we trade him in the summer? I remember saying to trade him, but I don't remember what happened, why didn't we ??

spo Can't get the idea to play Wiggins small ball too often Or we are doomed... I know it's gonna happen, His head is made of concrete.

That is how Very poor people, Since childhood, "go up the world" usually... They work hard put their head down and March Forward no matter what

but they never learn "Lateral movement"

Yet we have some of the winiest fans in the league wanting to make us mediocre like every other organization every season.
If u don't want 2b here, the way things work, u don't like it, then don't b here. U have 2 stand on something. If Miami ain't standing on something, they become alot of these organizations trying 2 find their identity. This is the culture, bro -Wade

Is it not appropriate anymore to expect these mother f*cking players to play through & honour their damn f*ckin contract!

Who cares? Jimmy has fat Erny riding on his cawk while Bernie watches from the cuck chair. End of story.

I couldn’t care less tbh I just find it funny. This forum believes every little report until it shows Pat in a certain light and then it’s just all fabricated BS. Like how shams made up the Jimmy stuff to try and get ahead of the scoop and because Woj wasn’t here to challenge him any more

Go listen to the South Beach session interview w Riley. He gets emotional talking about his dad. I'm pretty sure when Riley was talking to Jimmy about Jimmy's dad passing last year and giving him life stories of Riley,'s own dad, he probably got emotional.
Nothing much more than that. Riley probably tried to connect to Jimmy on personal lvl and Jimmy wasn't having it. He only had money on his mind

To the people who think we should've traded Jimmy in the off-season.
Who could've we have gotten that's better than what we just got? I'm just curious.

Sometimes the quickly approaching deadline and a few desperate teams can create more value for your player. So, in a way, the management was hedging the bet. Let's try one more run w Jimmy and see how it goes until the deadline. If it's going great, we give him an extension, if not, explore the trade market.

Return to Miami Heat
