Re: Off-Season Volume 6 - The One Where Someone (Darius Days) Signs
Meh.
Westbrook wouldn't be half bad in our system. In fact, I think he could have one of his better seasons (in terms of impact - not stats) under a Heat uniform.
Metrics wise, Russ' is a big guard with a long wingspan and top notch athleticism, so defensively Spo will have little issues integrating him into the 'switch-everything' scheme.
Offensively, a pick and roll game with Bam has potential to work rather smoothly. Surround them and Jimmy with shooters and it can turn into something majestic.
A starting 5 of Westbrook, Herro, Butler, Millsap and Bam is lethal. Off of the bench you have Oladipo, Vincent, Strus, Martin, etc. etc. It's a solid ECF contender. I wouldn't be against it. In fact, I'm up for it.

But what if Brooklyn refuses to deal Durant for the pieces we are offering? If you go outside of this board everyone thinks our offer is a joke. Sure we can run it back with Lowry and Duncan without Tucker but what does that get us? We essentially lost our all everything defender and only true PF in Tucker. We are noticeably going to be weaker regardless.
It’s only a joke until that vry offer is successful....then it becomes how Riles is a genius for getting the job done, again.
Let them laugh, we’re cookin’ over here & involved. This ain’t over until a confirmed decision is made by both Nets & Jazz. The hunt is still on

If u don't want 2b here, the way things work, u don't like it, then don't b here. U have 2 stand on something. If Miami ain't standing on something, they become alot of these organizations trying 2 find their identity. This is the culture, bro -Wade

I understand Russ from a contract perspective and the appeal of shedding salary etc…
…but from a basketball perspective, he’s phucking gross man. He’s not who he was. He’d be so bad next to Jimmy and Bam. You thought the fit with Lebron and AD was bad? WOY would be captain the SS Shambles into an iceberg.

If we're planning on going for an expiring contract, why not just go for Kyrie instead? It'll cost more, but at least we have a better shot at the title

Number 3? lol. They photoshopped Russ' head on Wade's body, I think. Kinda hilarious.

2 open roster spots to sign minimum players
3 players in the starting 5 that can't shoot 3s. That's a recipe for disaster.
Jimmy playing full time pf, injuries galore.
Agreed. I think we should go the other way.
Bring Bam down to the 4 and have a bigger 5 like Yurt, or keep Bam at the 5 and take our shot with Jovic at the 4 if we can't get anybody via the trade market. Jimmy at the 4 would be undersized and it would be asking him to do way too much. Too fragile for that. Caleb at the 4 could work for stretches, but not for long.
My ideal lineup would be
Lowry
Herro or Dipo or Duncan or Max
Jimmy
Bam
Yurt

If we are entertaining trading Lowry for Westbrook then we should trade Jimmy. If we are trading for Westbrook we are not serious about competing for a championship.

Full rebuild...lets do it. We'll build the team around Gabe, Max, Jovic, and Yurt.

I'd prefer to reset the timeline to Bam and Herro fully then try convince ourselves that we are competing for a championship with the same squad minus PJ, Lowry and Robinson and adding Westbrook when every other team has improved considerably on top of what they already had.

So I see we got to the "we should trade for Westbrick!" part of the thread..
I'll check back in in another 100 pages or so.

I love this board. We were 1 shoot away from the finals last year, this offseason we are in the running to upgrade the team for arguably the best player in the NBA, the Nets said sit tight, we will think about it while we are on vacation and in the meantime we panic and start talking about blowing up and full rebuild.

Don't get me wrong, that is by far my first option but if what people are saying about trading for Westbrook is true (which I don't think it is at all.) Then I'm saying we might as well be trading Jimmy and resetting because trading Lowry for Westbrook would be a downgrade. We'd be wasting another year of Jimmy's good years and who knows how many of those are left.
Basically do anything else other than trading for Westbrook.

Lakers have Carmelo Anthony, THT, DJ Augustin, Stanley Johnson, Kent Bazemore among others. Heat could be interested in any of those. Might not be Westbrook.
1. Herro 2. Bol Bol 3. Seko 4. Bruno
unless we trade up for Barrett or trade down for PJ Washington
