for his price point and what he brings I think this is objectively false. He has value to an offense, but is still developing. Just because a player isn't a finished product without the benefit a even a single season playing exclusively at this level doesn't mean he is trash. That is just hyperbole at that point and designed to be inflammatory. Now if you presented reasoning behind your assessment, it might be easier to give your words value.

Lmao

Hey sucks plain and simple..

For his price point I’d rather give one of the udfa a chance and use any money wasted on strus towards a big..

All the Heat have done is tie up a ton of money in older aging vets. This team is no better then it was last year at this point just more strapped for cash.

Nah Strus is solid. I'm happy to give him a cheap 2yr deal to see if he can become a solid rotation player. He showed enough flashes last season to warrant a bigger commitment.

What happened to those reports saying Kawhi Leonard was our major target in FA?

Mans is an UFA and apparently willing to listen to offers. We really believe Riley not atleast entertaining the notion?

The money spent on Struss I believe is below vet min and we have a number of roster spots still available to do as you suggest. And I agree I would like to see two or three of our undrafted free agents actually make the roster and a couple go on two way deals. That still leaves a spot or two open for a veteran big to be signed which Struss's signing doesn't impact. If he develops he is young enough to be a valued three point shooter off the bench. And if he grows beyond a price point we are willing to pay in two seasons that turns him into a trade-able asset for future picks or part of a package. Signing players like him are low risk good reward scenarios. So I think the things you want are still achievable with Struss on the squad and he doesn't hinder those goals.

We really gonna complain about 2yrs, $3.5m for a guy who went from 2-way to solid rotation player when called upon?

6pts in 13mpg, 1.3 treys per game, has sneaky athleticism too for a guy that size.

Personally I think it's a no brainer. We need shooters, and Strus will get better now that he's had reps at the top level.

I don't think there is really a viable pathway at this point to having the money to make a serious run at Kawhi. And we have seen this show from him before. I think the man as quiet as he is likes to be courted despite having already made up his mind as to what he wants to do. I saw this fully acknowledging that I don't know him or "Uncle Dennis" personally to make those assessments.

Vertical Limit wrote:People keep posting potential line ups here… i dont know if some of you all know this yet… but today, Goran Dragic is a better player than Kyle Lowry. There were many seasons where Kyle was the better player… but Gorans game has aged better, hes in better physical condition, and hes just the better player right now period. We did not improve at the 1. It was a lateral move best case scenario except, we paying Kyle 10 million more per season

Worst case scenario if any of what you are saying is true which its not at all, we would still be getting this new Dragic for an extra 8mpg than our old Dragic so still wouldn't be a lateral move.

Considering Riley’s overpaid for pretty much everyone else yeah..better money management you wouldn’t need a scrub like strus and could find someone better. Hell I’ll take monk any day over strus

Solid player?

You aren't providing a basis for your critique. What is it in your opinion that makes him a bad player? He isn't going to be particularly well rounded at his experience level or price point, but he seems to have the potential to expand beyond a specialist role. What are you looking for out of a player in his first season, undrafted, costing less than 2 million?

We got left waiting at the alter chasing long shots last season while other teams scooped up the rest of the talent. We don't need to waste our time wining and dining a guy who's just going to resign with his own team once they've secured all their other free agents.

I think Riley wanted to stay focused on deals he knew he could get done.

Gimmie Dennis Smith Jr in the backup PG role.

Brings much needed youth and athleticism.

Return to Miami Heat
