It's wild to see people talking up Wiggins, K Anderson, and Davion Mitchell as if Miami just fleeced the League acquired 3 All-NBA guys and then simultaneously saying Riley needs to go. And this on top of everyone raving about Herro's improvement, Jokic, I mean, Jovic's talent, and Victor Wemb..., I mean, Walmart Wemby being a total steal. And this is without getting into all the guys Miami has developed recently, like Robinson, Vincent, Strus...etc plus the vets Miami refurbished, like Tucker, Love, Oladipo...etc.

The cognitive dissonance is staggering.

The media doesn't give Miami its due because...they are haters. The only franchises that are even in the conversation of having been run better in the last 30 years are the Lakers and San Antonio. That's it. And everyone knows the NBA has rigged the league in favor of the Lakers.

Also, off-topic, but: How the F did Miami manage to get blown out by F'n BROOKLYN

To the people who think we should've traded Jimmy in the off-season.
Who could've we have gotten that's better than what we just got? I'm just curious.

Sometimes the quickly approaching deadline and a few desperate teams can create more value for your player. So, in a way, the management was hedging the bet. Let's try one more run w Jimmy and see how it goes until the deadline. If it's going great, we give him an extension, if not, explore the trade market.

Come on man, we sold low.

His value hit rock bottom due to the suspension, his age getting up there and his contract almost ending.

There's no doubt we could have gotten a much better return if we got a head of this and traded him this summer or even the trade deadline last year.

We got lazy and didn't act on time. I think the our owed picks to OKC and Hornets played a role in that, but the fact is we sold low and too late - we could've gotten probably another couple of nice picks/young players - which would have helped us land the next star - maybe even could've gotten D.Fox with those assets.

It is what is. We need to be more strategic going forward. We salvaged the situation by getting a somewhat acceptable return, even if it's not nearly as good as it could have been.

Ok, let's go back to the off-season n see what we realistically could have gotten for him. Not some hopeful pipedreams, but realistic assets.
I'm really curious. So entertain me some offers.

First of all, he would refuse to go to certain teams. So, it will have to be Phoenix or just couple teams willing to give him the 120m extension.

Look what Phoenix tried n failed to trade Durant. A much better player w no drama. He refused to go to GS and they didn't have much options n failed to trade.

Perhaps there are slightly better packages, idk. But I don't think we sold that low at all. Teams don't care about the drama. They all know it was about money and he will behave once he gets his extension.

36 points on 12 shots lol.

After a 9-point 4th against the lowliest of low Brooklyn Nets, I expect to see Kendrick back in a Heat uniform asap. What an absolute embarrassment.

I am not a superstitious guy.....but...dude... I tend to notice signs and portents. That most certainly does not look like the start of a bright new chapter in Jimmy's career....

The visuals could not be much worse.... knock off DJ Khaled, followed by super gloomy ugly weather....lol...geez

Hope the dude does good, hope he gets to play Basketball as long as he wants too. I hope he is great for Golden State...but that really did look a bit like a side charecter walking into the swamp of no return. Almost like Theon Greyjoy giving his we will hold Winterfell speech....

It’s going to be a fight for the 6-8 seeds down the stretch. We will be making the playoffs. The tankers tank hard against everyone except us and we always find a way to win the improbable ones.

Davion Mitchell was playing around 25 min off the bench for the Raptors. It would behoove Spo to play him the same amount and cut Rozier’s minutes down drastically. Mitchell allows Herro to slide to the two spot when he comes off the bench and puts a defensive point guard next to him. Unlike the lousy Rozier who he’s had to endure playing with for long stretches.

Herro
Wiggins
Jovic
Bam
Ware

want to claim it into existence

Slo Mo and Mitchell off the bench might not be great for spacing but a lot less of Rozier and likely Larsson (sorry Larsson, nothing about you) will help my health

3 1sts from the Sixers, potentially 5 from the Knicks that they sent for a far lesser player than Jimmy in Bridges after they contacted us and we turned them down. Either easily trumps what we got

Yeah, this sounds great in hindsight but if they traded Jimmy in the offseason, people would've been crying about Pat punting on this season and giving up on Jimmy too early.

You would’ve had some sure but people that actually understand what’s going on and understand asset management (something this FO has lacked) would’ve been fine with it after it came out that Jimmy said he isn’t signing an extension and the FO knew they weren’t going to sign him to one anyways.

My main gripe would be and still is that we never really tried to go for it all when we should have, but I would’ve given praise for making the right business decision

I gave you 2 offers far better than we got and no they weren’t pipe dream offers they were there for the taking lmao. Knicks literally gave 5 1sts for bridges, it’s reported they contacted us for Jimmy first

Pat Riley is the reason why basketball even exists in south Florida but I do think it’s time for him to retire and let a younger generation lead the team.

This is the present and the future, although unless this man starts shooting up some Wegovy, he may not make it long enough to take the throne:

And after him, I can totally see Spoelstra pulling a Brad Stevens and stepping down as coach to take over the FO.

Heat have had trouble both with defending dribble penetration and generating offense from dribble penetration. The new additions will definitely be a boost defensively. Hopefully on O too

No one is knocking what Pat Riley has done, he’s one of the greatest sports icons period from a management perspective, but the time has came for him to step down and it’s been that way for a few years. You all know good and damn well this hasn’t been Pat at the top of his game in the Jimmy era, he 100% would’ve really pushed for a championship especially after a finals trip in year 1 of the build.

It happens, he’s 80. Not his fault, everyone gets old. I’m sure you all were dragging Wades name through the mud when his knees were failing him, this is no different. And Wade is the greatest figure in Miami Heat and probably sports history (go debate a fuxkin wall).

Pat did a horrible job with this group, countless times our stars tried to get help in here and countless times Pat wasn’t willing to play ball. The Dame saga was disgusting.

“BuT wE mAdE dA finAlZ” yea off the greatness of our star players and Spo when the games matter most. They were rounded by a bunch of scrubs, game 7 of the 2022 ECF was a masterclass in displaying this

He honestly needs to start.

Mitchell
Herro
Wiggins
Bam
Ware

Let’s see what we can do with that defense infusion

I’m going to call bs on this.

The 2020 finals run:
Goran was the leading scorer. He was absolutely ballin that playoff run.
Duncan was absolutely unguardable for that playoff run.
AI and Jae Crowder had big defensive moments and big shots
Bam had some big moments, including the block on Tatum
Jimmy had 2 finals games where he was a beast, but he had help.

The 2023 finals run:
Jimmy had that ridiculous Bucks series where he went crazy and then he pretty much fell off the rest of the playoff run.
Gabe Vincent and Max Strus were on fire
Caleb Martin should have been the ECF finals MVP. He had a better series than Jimmy.

He didn’t have name help of a star player, but he had players that were absolutely playing way above their level and were heavily contributing.

Nah i call BS here.

Lets says we take the Heat at their word here, ok. That means they would value those players right. That means they would try to resign them…. Oh . That means they would pay market value to keep those players right… oh . With the Heat it’s never what we say but what we are willing to pay, thats how we value you, then it all becomes crystal clear. Our actions basically confirm it was Jimmy dragging us, if not we would have kept those players. The simple saying money talks and BS walks applies here, dont fall for some PR spin, its not even good PR, thats the worst part. At least this mess is over.

Let’s focus on our new core of Ware, Herro and Bam and see what Spo will unlock with Wiggins.

Dragics level of play never recovered from the finals injury. Bams been there thru it all along with a constant of elite playoff defense that is among the most adaptable in the NBA. The fate of the 3 ball did a lot of work.

Return to Miami Heat
