Marion's really gonna turn things around for you guys. His debut and he's already implementing the running style of Phoenix into your system. The team as a whole today made some pretty nice unselfish plays and some plays even resembled Phoenix. I think the running game is better suited for the players that you guys have now rather than the half court set. Wade should excel in the running game.

Another observation from today's game for me was that all of this talk about Pau Gasol being the Lakers final piece sure seems premature. Gasol had a very tough time with the Heat's front line and he's going to face much better front lines than that.

That's not going to be much of a problem when Bynum comes back for the Lakers.

I was sitting behind one of the baskets and I was impressed by Gasol live... he is very fundamentally sound and his shots and passing seemed effortless. I liked him. Lamar was fierce out there, he is really playing well in that system.

What in the world does Raja Bell performing a clothes line have anything to do with the Heat?

Besides it's not hard to do...

Wow great game from the heat. I loved the passion that Marion brings to the team. Dorrel Wright looks like he is a great Fit now. Resign Marion and Dorrel and the SF is set for years. Let Ricky and Williams expire. Also i think Marion is better at SF not PF but as of now he is ok at PF. This off season we need to go after a PG and C! One through the Draft and Which ever we don't get we get through free agency.

I love Kobe, but if Lakers fans are going to be rude & troll a bunch of nonsense on our forum, then that's what you get. Don't be mad.

I love that Marion finally gets to be showcased on another team and that "product of Nash" BS is finally put to rest.

Y'all will like Marion, a lot. He has a couple deficiencies, like creating his own shot which many ignorant fans will remind you of. But he plays very hard, and mostly plays within himself (he doesn't take too many ill-advised shots or makes many turnovers).

Banks might be alright as a PG if Wade handles the ball most of the time. His 3 point shot is much improved since coming through Phoenix. However, he overdribbles instead of moving the ball. Plays like Howard Eisley in that regard. If y'all are going up tempo, you don't want him at PG if he's going to handle the ball much.

Is Ricky Davis more frustrating to watch than Antoine Walker?

Yea I thought Marion creating his own shot was going to be more of a weakness, but after tonight's game, I saw him blow by people on his own dribble and pump fake and then attack the rim, he had better handles on the ball than I thought. He even led one fast break 3/4 of the way then passed it off to Wade under the basket for a layup.

Banks looked quick and hit a jumper or two, but over dribbled once or twice though. I think he has some D though, we need some of that.

Overall I think we got a steal considering how much Oneal makes the next 2 seasons. He wasn't giving us 100% effort for a while now, last season he didn't either, so it was time for him to move on.

Exactly. Last year, a 100% Wade got the better of Kobe.

2006-07 Head to Head stats:

Wade: 37.5PPG 53%FG 9.5AST 4.5REB 4STL 2BLK

Kobe: 20.5PPG 36%FG 6AST 3REB 0.5STL 0.5BLK

Heh, I just asked myself that same question earlier today. And yes, somehow, he is.

Walker is slow-footed and unathletic, poorly conditioned and devoid of upper body strength, lacks any touch or marksmanship...at this point in his career, there's really only so much he can do. But Davis is still young and able-bodied. By all accounts, someone of his considerable skill set should be a productive member of a playoff-bound team's rotation. But that's never been the case. And even today, while moving to a more open and freelancing style of play that can potentially mask his kind of weaknesses (read: thinking) and accentuate his kind of supposed strengths (read: reacting), he still managed to be awful.

But anyway, Ricky notwithstanding (and J-Will for that matter...dang, how hard is to throw a simple lob pass to one of the THREE wide open teammates when the only defender protecting the basket on a fastbreak is little Jordan Farmar?), today's game was a lot of fun to watch. For the first time this year, we're finally seeing this team actually shift into 2nd and 3rd gear in the open floor. Up until this point, it felt like the opposite basket was so far off in the distance, like the court was the length of a football field and it was taking us exactly that long to make it across. But now, it feels like we're making it from baseline to baseline in two or three strides. It's like the game's being played on fast forward.

I'm thrilled to have Shawn Marion.

Wade needs to step down from the All Star Game and rest. If we're having a headache just watching the game, just imagine what's going through his head?

You guys don't want to hear excuses, but the guy is completely overwhelmed by this season. He is injured, and he's in the worst team in the league. That's got to be stuck on your mind. What he's able to do on this squad has many limitations.

He's trying to do too much out there, and the talent around him is very poor aside from Marion, and two potentially good players in Dorrell and Cook. Blount has been stepping it up, but the guy is a solid backup, not a center. He can't rebound for ****. We really miss Udonis.

It sure doesn't help when you got Ricky Davis and Jason Williams constantly making bad decisions with the ball. I litterally close my eyes each time they have the basketball on thier hands. It is just scary to watch what they're going to do with it.

Point the finger at Wade, but I see a whole team that is just not good at all this season, including the coach.

Let's see what we can do with Marion at SF and Udonis at PF.

I also find it quite humorous people comparing an injured Wade on a really bad team [one of the worst teams in recent history] versus Kobe on a team with Gasol + Odom, great bench and shooters, and a solid PG.

The tempo was fun and interesting to watch. Let's just hope it translates into some wins now and many more in the future. Bottom line is that we still lack the personnel to run this or ANY system for that matter. We get exposed defensively with no player capable of guarding the paint (although with Marion and Banks our perimeter D should improve.

I wanted to see JWill run THIS team but he truly disappointed going back to his Sacramento days. A "running" offense requires as much discipline as a half court offense if not more. JWill is supposed to be the general and instill that discipline instead we have him taking bas shots and killing "free" offensive possesions. Sorry but his "good passing" is not going to cut it. We need someone steady, smart and someone that knows when to take a shot. Let's give Quinn so court time instead.

Also, talking about killing drives, that should be Ricky Davis "middle name". I called it back in November and it has become more pronounced since with every loss. The guy kills the flow of the offense, feels he is Kobe Bryant but plays soft and non-aggressive like Martin Muurssep (sp?).
This kid needs to go. Let's get Miller for Davis NOW.

On the other hand, I liked what I saw from Wright. He was aggressive, running, defending etc. If he can become consistent and get us similar type of production every game, I think we are set with him playing off the bench when Haslem comes back (someone else who should see his numbers go up with Marion next to him).

On the rest of the team, DQ has hit the rookie wall, Quinn and AJ need more PT to get a better read into their futures with the team. Blount might actually be a nice fit off the bench with this fast-paced offense however, I wouldn't hesitate to trade him for an upgrade on the defensive side of the ball. Earl Barron?=GONE.

Good typical game for Marion. I hope you all enjoy him.

We'll miss the ally oops. Some in the league jump higher than Shawn, but no one comes down and goes back up again faster. He looks like a human pogo stick. He also never gets tired.

His big weakness is falling in love with the 3 pt line.

Also, the stuff about Nash making him better, in a sense that is true. Nash's great ability is in keeping many players involved. Marion had similar production in Phx with less touches. He'll get the touches on the Heat and put up typical Marion numbers without Stevie. He did it when playing with Marbury too (which is a real accomplishment when you think about it).

I could never understand how a player who is so good at what he does had to be so insecure about it.

Maybe a change of scenery will help everyone.

We now embark on the rest of the season with "The Big IF" in a Suns uni.
