Finish the off-season competitively

Herro and Duncan to 1 of 2 packages -

Utah - Herro and Duncan for Collins, Clarkson, and a 2027 1st (via LAL) - Saves 7.8M, which allows us to sign a 15th guy (Tyus Jones)
Detroit - Herro for Ivey, Tim Hardway Jr, and a 2029 2nd - Saves 4.9M, 15 guys on roster

In either scenario I assume we release Dru smith and sign Swider to the 3rd 2 way

Rozier/Jones/JRich/Pullin*
Burks/Clarkson/Larsson
Jimmy/Jaime/Haywood/Swider*
Jovic/Love/Collins/Johnson*
Bam/Ware/Bryant

Why would Utah want Herro’s salary when they got a budding young two guard in Keyonte George? Why would they want to roadblock him with Herro? They also have a vet in Clarkson behind him on a respectable deal.

They have Sexton and drafted Collier at the PG spot. Ainge wants picks and young players on good deals. He’ll eat salary if it returns picks. That’s Ainge’s game. I do see a healthy path at dumping Duncan who’ll they’ll flip next year as an expiring much like they did KO.

The guard rotation of Duncan, Herro, and Rozier has got to be one of the worst defensively in the league. I hope we can somehow manage to get a POA defender at the backup PG spot. Dinwiddie or Fultz could fill that role. If we can just dump Duncan’s contract we could fill that void and have Burks step in as the primary shooter off the bench. Could also then sign Swider as the insurance policy.

I really wanted the Nuggets to sign Highsmith to replace KCP, Miami got a good deal guy is tough and defends with the best of them should probably be starting imo defending the other teams best PG/SG/SF but I doubt it.

Some may not want to hear this but if Utah moves Kessler, the potential idea of getting Ware from Mia in a package deal for Lauri becomes more sound.

Also the new CBA has kicked in.

Also the recent contract schism with Jimmy hadn’t happened yet

This FO acts like there chit don’t stink lol. Man we are really stuck with this beyond mid ass clunky roster construction. Spo will be running out Burks as a small ball 4 without a doubt. He’s 6’5 214 that’s bigger than Caleb.

Eh, Dru Smith is a two way right? He could be gone at any point. If he's picked over all the promising pgs we have in summer league this year I'd start getting pissed. Plus with Caleb gone, Highsmith is NEEDED with the team as it currently is built. Our perimeter defense is hanging by a thread. And for 5.5 mill a year? That's not even a lot.

Tbh it's more in jest, at that price, he's fine. But don't get me wrong if the FO could have given him the Martin contract, they would have in all honesty. And I just HATE seeing Dru Smith on the court. I do not think he has anything about him that screams NBA quality and I see no reason why Spo should play this dude ahead of anybody, which he most likely will even being on a 2-way.
