Re: 2025 Regular Season Thread Vol. 7 - It’s about to go down
What worries about the D.Mitchell acquisition: Just another reason for Spo to continue going 'small'. Mitchell will probably play 15-20+ minutes a game, but you as sure can bet that Rozier will not be seeing his minutes drop substantially. We will be rolling out 3-guard lineups again, with Mitchell, Herro, and Rozier on the court at the same time. Spo will also see, Wiggins at 6'8", as the ideal powerforward
What we should be doing is trying to maximize the floor time that Bam, Kel'el, and Jovic share together, but I think we now have yet another reason to go in the opposite direction.

Ware last 2 games: 26 minutes (@Brooklyn), and 19 minutes (@Philly).
The tide is slowly turning and as each passing day goes by you know Spo is missing 'small ball'. He's now got a 210lbs, 29 YO 6'8" athletic specimen joining the roster in Andrew Wiggins; who in Spo's eyes, is the ideal power-forward in the modern NBA. Ware's days as the betting favourite for ROY are in serious jeopardy

Spo logic:
Hey Pelle, we haven't played you for a single minute all game, but since you're such a great cheer leader on the bench we're going to put you in to start the 4th quarter and keep you in for the entire quarter, because you're 6'4" tall and can play small-forward and we know you're a rookie that is going to excel in the most critical minutes of each basketball game!

Curious to see if we make a run at either, we likely will with KD but Trae I’m not sure. We’re one of the few teams in the league that needs a PG and he’s only 26, best playmaker in the league
I know its delusional but I prefer your Ant man idea, KD's old (and I can't stand him) and I hate Trae's style of play.
Edwards on the other hand... with Spo to fully unlock him as a player, man... Who is Minnesota's GM, and can we somehow get a Pelinka/Harrison connection there?
I actually think KD can help that

His 4th quarter coaching has been horrible lately, he’s having a pretty bad season himself

Ware hasn't been great lately, so not all on Spo. But hopefully he has a lot more grace for him

Ok, let's go back to the off-season n see what we realistically could have gotten for him. Not some hopeful pipedreams, but realistic assets.
I'm really curious. So entertain me some offers.
First of all, he would refuse to go to certain teams. So, it will have to be Phoenix or just couple teams willing to give him the 120m extension.
Look what Phoenix tried n failed to trade Durant. A much better player w no drama. He refused to go to GS and they didn't have much options n failed to trade.
Perhaps there are slightly better packages, idk. But I don't think we sold that low at all. Teams don't care about the drama. They all know it was about money and he will behave once he gets his extension.
I gave you 2 offers far better than we got and no they weren’t pipe dream offers they were there for the taking lmao. Knicks literally gave 5 1sts for bridges, it’s reported they contacted us for Jimmy first
The link to that reported 5 first for Jimmy please.
https://sports.yahoo.com/knicks-expressed-interest-jimmy-butler-121624524.html
Here’s the link that they expressed interest and tried to get Jimmy before ultimately settling for a much lesser player in Mikal Bridges because we weren’t willing to negotiate.
Your response will likely be “well I don’t see where they offered 5 1st for Jimmy in there” but let’s not grasp for straws. If they gave it up for bridges they would’ve gave it up for Jimmy who is one of Thibs favorite players. I mean even if they only gave us 3 it’s a far better package than what we got and opens several avenues.
They didn’t play this out right considering Jimmy said he wasn’t extending in June and they had no intentions of extending him anyways. Is what it is.

Reminder of how shifty the goat was. What’s the closest thing in the league to him right now? Ant? Mitchell? I can’t lie, Ant in a Heat jersey could be my favorite player in the league lol.

It's Mitchell. He's the most similar in terms of offensive play style, imo.

Get the free throw percentage back to your norm, stop taking end of game desperation 3s and get that 3% up a little, and take 1-2 more shots and we’re cookin

That’s how I’d lean as well, between the leg pull back dribble into the jumper, swim through move when attacking the basket, and his spin move Mitchell tried to replicate all of them. Ant looks more like MJs style to me but Jordan, Kobe, Wade, Mitchell, and Ant all have a lot of similarities

Nightmare fuel is Spo going with Mitchell, Rozier, Herro, Highsmith, and Anderson small ball lineup. I'll cancel my fanduel package immediately

Re: 2025 Regular Season Thread Vol. 7 - It’s about to go down
Davion Mitchell found his groove in Toronto as a steady backup point guard who provided exactly what he was asked to: defense. The Raptors were nearly 5 points per 100 possessions better on that end with Mitchell on the floor -- the second-best mark on the team -- and when he stepped in as a starter for them in January, they won six of their seven games and became one of the best defenses in the NBA. While Mitchell's game on the offensive end leaves a lot to be desired, he was aggressive at getting to the basket and shot 36% from three on low volume. You shouldn't ask too much of him on that end, but defensively, he is as good as they come at the point of attack.

Re: 2025 Regular Season Thread Vol. 7 - It’s about to go down
I'm really trying to temper my expectations on the guys we got, like all this info sounds like we are going to catapult ourselves into the finals, but clearly Toronto felt Mitchell was not strong enough to keep and Warriors felt like Wiggins and Slo Mo weren't major contributors to a coming championship.
Hoping more that it is about fit. Mitchell seems to lack offense, but a hawk on D, well how much worse can he be in Scary's spot? Give similar offensive outputs if given the shot and then not give away points on the other end.
Then Wiggins, just looking at how a SF that can knock down threes fits better in our equal opportunity offense, and the stability he brings to our roster by being available.
Then Slo Mo, just having a cerebral player with height so that small ball ain't too small.
But on the opposite end, I'm sitting here convincing myself Jimmy ain't all that for GSW to we can get the 11th pick, but I know he is a good fit for what they do, but hoping that between him, Dray and Podz, there is not enough shooting and spacing and that team cannot generate enough offense.

I agree with you that it isnt so much about the better player its the better fit. It sucks because i feel this was the best team in awhile for jimmy to ball with minus a Dragic type pg but a gem in Ware that he couldve unlocked a few 10 + assists games. He is the best player in the trade now but this was about the future and he will fall off we just dont know how much.
With Wiggins at least we wont bleed as much when bam
Isnt aggressive but he needs to step up and play like he a max man

Just watched Raptors Grizz game one of Mitchell better games. Man I hope Mitchell shows something in practice. He is a splitting image of Norris Cole’s.
