If the Heat can get Rozier or Brogdan come playoffs they should come out of the East. I still think Brogdan come playoffs is better than Terry due to his IQ/size/defense but Terry during the RS will be way better than Brogdan when the game is more open.

I think with K.Love showing signs of life lately, Jovic starting to find his game, and Hishsmith being at least rotation worthy - we shouldn't put any resources into another PF.
Just roll with the Love/Jovic/Highsmith trio next to Bam. They all could (and should) play next to him.
Backup C is a small role that Orlando Robinson/Bryant could probably fill, with a little k.Love if needed.
The biggest and maybe only hole left is the slashing soring guard.
Herro and Duncan are good, but lack that quickness. Lowry is smart, but mostly washed and can't score. J-Rich can't really create. Hampton doesn't look ready.
Get 1 guard that can really score and create and this team is deep and set.

I would see what we can get with Martin and start putting our eggs in Jovic basket. If we can conceivably play him at the 4 for legit minutes it changes the entire dynamic of the team.
Fully developed Jovic is basically what Spo has been looking for in a 4 for a long long time.
I’d be willing to lose some games so Jovic can grow

It's unfortunate that Caleb's injuries have likely lowered his value somewhat. Still, would be interesting to see if he could bring back a rotation-calibur PG.

That's the move.
Trade Martin for assets, and use said assets to turn Lowry into 2 useful players - 1 being a PG.
Martin SHOULD NOT be taking minutes away from JJJ or Duncan or Jovic going forward.

I agree, but don't you think it's getting more and more likely that Lowry is retained at this point given his familiarity, expiring contract, and lack of another (healthy) PG on the roster? I wouldn't even be surprised to see him brought back next year on a 5-8mm/yr contract.

I think there's a 0% chance we give Lowry anything more then the vet minimum to stay around next year.
And Considering his rocky relationship with Spo, the front office and the fan base - I highly doubt he stays here regardless.
I really hope we're not overrating familiarity over productivity. He's clearly our weakest link, we can take a leap if we had a legit scoring slashing PG. There's not 1 NBA starting PG that won't be an upgrade over him IMO, which is amazing to think about.
We have the WORST starting PG in the league, and he's making huge money. We need to trade for an upgrade, it's that simple.

Yeah I hear ya. Lowry's vet minimum for next year though would be $3.3mm/yr, so to give him double that probably is a stretch but not really too surprising either. I think he would be fine as a mentoring/backup PG which would not be counted on for more than 15-20mpg. And I felt like he already did well in that role at times last year. So to get that for 5-6ish mil/year is probably fine, unless the plan is to bring back Dru Smith in that role or go elsewhere. Yes, Lowry is getting old, but I still think a team could do worse.
But regardless, you're right in that a PG upgrade is badly needed! Crazy that both are now hurt and made the need even more glaring.

It really is that simple. Now Lowry does bring veteran guile and semblance of stability to the position but at the cost of 30 millon, Nope. Now on the other hand we do need his 30 million to expire and getting guaranteed contracts in beyond next year is not part of our plan. Micky is already staring at a 28 million dollar tax bill this year that's pressed at the super tax line and we are essentially playing with a 13 man roster with Dru Smith out for the year and no money to fill the 15th spot.

We need to go all out in trade for a PG. We could sign a buyout player to shore up the 4 spot off the bench or a situational shooter if Duncan is traded.

Dinwiddie and DFS
for
Lowry, Martin, and protected 1st
Possible option. Get to keep Duncan here. Dinwiddie would only be a rental though.

https://www.espn.com/nba/team/schedule/_/name/mia/miami-heat
The schedule in the second half of the season, post-all star break, eases up considerably (for instance, 3x against the Pistons in March, very few games against strong playoff teams, limited road trips).
Hopefully that means cruising into a top-4 seed and being healthy for another deep playoff run.

I'm just waiting for the games vs Portland. To watch the Dame Package go off for 30 points a piece. Then just point and laugh

Lowry + LAL 26 SRP
For
Tyus Jones + Delon wright
Everyone is expiring, we save 7 mil (allows us to cut Dru and add another project like Bouyea or a vet), we get 2 PGs : one that can run the offense and 1 whos a legit defensive dog.

So Jones and Wright are just going to be rentals? We won’t be able to sign Jones unless he takes the MLE which i doubt. It’s not that simple. I do like the idea of Jones and Wright but it’s beyond me why the Wiz do this deal for a lowly second. This is a fleece job

The Bucks sent out a total of five second-round picks for Crowder, two to Brooklyn and three to Indiana
We in here trying to get Tyus Jones for one SRP
even an extra second would be laughable. He’s going to be going for a protected 1st in the 20’s.
