I'm not saying they're totally worthless additions, but at best, this was a pretty mild alteration of the roster. We're essentially the same team with a bit more scoring potential at PG and a bit more size at PF.

When u can magically create cap space please give pat Riley a call. Wade and Bosh both deserve 12/13 a year. But they're going to get more from the heat out of loyalty. It's going to kill us in the long run

Again, I haven't said Riley failed us. Read what you quoted. I don't think anyone would deny that we had some major issues exposed in the Finals. I contend that Napier, McRoberts, and Danny Granger do not greatly alleviate those problems. I did not address whether or not it was possible for Riley to fill those holes, given our cap situation and players' contract demands. I think it's too early to make that judgment, considering we have no idea what LeBron/Bosh/Wade will end up signing for and no idea how much other appealing alternatives that haven't been signed yet will get.

Well pointing out the obvious when there's nothing the heat can do about it is quite useless

Thomas is a bad defender. All of his defensive stats (advanced) are quite lacking and judging by the eye-test he doesn't look good as a defender either. I wouldn't count Wade's defensive consistency/intensity going forward either. I don't know about you but I think a backcourt of Wade/Thomas/Napier/Allen is going to be a mess defensively.

Overall, Thomas gave up 0.83 PPP on 37.7% shooting, which puts him in the top 20% among NBA players. In isolation, he was a little better -- 0.76 PPP on 32.6%. He was good defending the PnR ball handler -- 0.73 PPP on 37th, which is about top 12-13%. And he held spot up shooters to 34.4% shooting and 0.89 PPP. Those are all soldi numbers. The Kings defense gave up 4.3 points per 100 possessions fewer when Thomas was on the court than when he was off it. His opponent counterpart's PER was below average. So no, his advanced defensive stats are not all lacking.

The McRoberts signing is great. He's an above average player on the typical team with a skill-set that fits what you guys do. He brings some relative youth towards your roster as well. You may have slightly overpaid but overpaying during title contention periods isn't a major problem provided you leave some flexibility.

I also think many Heat fans are getting to hung up on the 2014 Finals.

First, a 5 game series is an awfully small sample size. The 2014 Spurs were better than the 2014 Heat but the margin wasn't anywhere close to 14 ppg. You play that series a 100 times and that is probably the 2nd or 3rd best performance SAS would get.

Second, there is no guarantee SAS is going to be back in the finals next year. The West is an absolute bloodbath so it would be a huge mistake to build your roster for one opponent especially when many critical players on that team are the age were they could collapse at any moment.

Obviously the biggest factor in your off-season is bringing back Lebron but this is a nice signing.

As an aside, I'm shocked there are fans who want to replace Bosh with Melo. I'm not one of those Knick fans who hate Melo but Bosh's skill-set is far more valuable next to Lebron.

LOL What the?? That's just **** nonsense. Pure speculation. Just no parameters to support this "assumption".
I could easily say, out of 100 games between Miami and San Antonio, Spurs win ~50 by double digits. Pure speculation as well, but who would bet against that?

No, he's basing it on the fact that each of those teams played 100 games against 28 other teams that gives you a pretty good baseline of their respective quality, and suggests the difference between them is not nearly as large as focusing on simply the last 5 games of the season would suggest.

Yeah, but he's saying that "the margin wasn't anywhere close to 14 ppg". Why? How can you say this?
I mean I can say this and that's a fact: Spurs won this series with ease and well-deserved by a margin of ~14ppg.
Spurs were just that much better, simple as that...

Not really. Melo just isn't a very good team player.

I think he is or can be a great team player. He's definitely a great catch and shoot guy. We can roll out with, Nappier, Wade, Melo, Roberts and Bosh. Wade can be the man again but how long he'd be able to keep that up is anyones guess.

Wade's days of being the man are long gone. On a playoff team he needs to come off the bench to preserve his knees for the postseason. On a non-playoff team he can start, but he can't be the #1 option.

** I come in peace**

On Saturday I came here and posted my "inside info" some of you believed me I sent one poster photos of proof of my connection. So of you **** on me.. I promise you I'm not trolling. I was aways on a holiday this weekend working 80-85hr a week for 7months I think I deserve a long weekend.

I talked to my source today and he said cavs are still confident in lebron to cavs but the team in the east (my inside info- one of my closet friends) plays on is under full understand big 3 will be back!

Congratz guys.. I maybe 100% wrong things change by the second but just thought you would like to know.

Again- I am not trolling please don't ban me. I have always been a lurker on this site.

RexBoyWonder wrote:People are ignoring a huge factor in our offseason - The draft.

Napier, Ennis, Hamilton are all rookies basically. It's like adding 2 promsing first rounders (Ennis + Napier, based of everything we saw from them till now) + an interesting second rounder (Hamilton, showed enough to get a chance).

Add those 3 young pieces to MCbob + Possibly healthy granger, to a team that was the second best in the NBA.

I like our chances.

I don't know if it's fair to assert that we were second best in the NBA. A lot of people are taking for granted that we'd have beaten anyone out West other than the Spurs, but we don't know if that's true. All we know is that the Spurs crushed us.

With the Big 3 back, we'd certainly be the front-runners to get back to the Finals out of the East. Whether or not that means we're actually the league's second-best team is up for debate. Personally, after the way we looked against the Spurs, I'd be pretty nervous about a match-up with the Thunder or Clippers. Maybe we fare better, but I don't think there's any question that the Thunder and Clippers are closer in quality to the Spurs than the Pacers.

If big 3 take paycuts (helps if we move Cole but don't have to) : Jordan Hill, Gasol, Thomas, could possibly still be in play.

It wouldn't shock me.

so the general concensus is twofold

half the people absolutely despise these two signings the other half think they are solid moves

im with the latter but ive yet to see any valid opinions why they are horrible signings besides the usual "lmaooooo desperate riley signing washed up granger lol lol lebron 2 cleveland lol"

we got him for cheap if anything he would be an upgrade over rashart and james jones. battier also who was a steaming pile of retirement all season long

After you came on here to troll us with "LBJ going to Cavs" now you see the events unfolding and all signs pointing to Big 3 staying... and now you magically say "oops, big 3 is staying"

Cavs fans have made a ass of themselves why Lebron strokes his narcissism.

The fact is, the Cavs young core of Irving,Waiters,Bennett and Wiggins is very young. Not one of them is 25 years old. You do not win titles with that young of team. You can trade for Love, but he hasn't done jack for 6 seasons except stat pad his white ass.

When he resigns with the Heat, we will shock the world again!!!
