If DM, the best guard in the East this season, didn’t get shafted for a starting spot we could’ve had a first look at our future big 3 in the starting lineup

Is it fair to say that instead of Dame we added JJJ, Jovic, Rozier, Delon, JRich and saved Caleb from exile and kept a few picks to use as currency???

That's a way to look at it. I don't think he would have been better than not having all those players you listed. I really want to see Jovic takeover the pf position. He had a great game against bucs and then regressed back into player that got benched in next game against sixers.

You can tell they all studied Chris Paul (who led the entire NBA in defensive box in his fourth season). They accomplish these crazy feats by being pit bulls on the ball without having to gamble, never losing awareness off the ball, and constantly influencing teammates’ assignments with heavy communication a la Draymond.
They all have that springy bounce to their step on defense, mastery of angles, excellent opponent scouting, high end shot contest skills, and ability to bait errant passes.
His feet are awesome, he boxes out, and he’s one of the best overhead pass anticipators: he’ll snatch it out of midair. I’m so freaking anxious for the season to restart, the AS game is a criminal waste of time.
Unlike Rozier who’s metrics after 10 games look horrible, Wright’s are gonna be eye popping quote me on that.
Agreed, I'm more excited about Wright than I was about Terry. I think he's going to secure his spot in the playoff rotation, likely playing 25-30 minutes.
He'll be exceptional for their zone, and overall, with Bam on the floor, these two will greatly stabilize their defense, no matter who else is on the court.

With everyone healthy, I have a hard time finding regular minutes for Delon, but it's good to have him nonetheless (whether he plays or doesn't)

He won't win MIP but I'm proud of him. Good version of Duncan has resulted in two Finals runs, lets hope that a perfect chitstorm of factors can get us to another.

Re: Miami Heat Regular Season Thread 5.0 - Somebody save us
Trading for Dame gave us a much better chance of winning a championship over the next few years regardless of how we want to spin it. We would’ve lost some guys but we had several vets waiting on the deal to be made that wanted to sign with us after, when they got word it wasn’t happening they went elsewhere.
This team “could” still win it all but I think we need Hornets Terry, playoff Jimmy has to stay healthy, Herro has to contribute and impact winning his 21 points on 20 shot games aren’t going to cut it, and Bam has to be more efficient offensively this year as well.
Not getting Dame did open more opportunities and kept the “Bams friends” dream alive. If we’re able to get DM via trade or free agency within the next 2 years I think it was probably worth missing out on Dame at this point. The FO has to hit on a big one soon, DM was basically begging to be here before being traded (he knew what he was doing coming to Miami pro league every night and eating up the Miami Heat chants) so let’s hope he still wants to. Best bet may be on opt in and trade like we just saw with KP to the Celtics.

If Jimmy comes back we'll have Wright now who can do the Gabe Vincent duty and just harass the other PG defensively without having Highsmith/Caleb starting. This move favors Jovic to start.
Gonna be a tough decision from Spo when Terry comes back. I think it might be a good idea to bring him off the bench.
We know Spo is not gonna bench Herro even though Duncan fits the starting lineup more.
That depth chart tells me the final 2 spots in the top 10 of our rotation I’ll be between Jovic, Highsmith, Jrich, and Wright, I think Jovic and Highsmith are out and Vade was on to something.
Wright/Rozier
Herro/Jrich
Duncan/JJJ
Jimmy/Caleb
Bam/Love
Call me crazy, but I would rather take minuets from Rozier and give them to Jovic depending on the competition. Jovic is an excellent ball handler and passer, can play inside defense and rebound.

Pretty awesome for Bam to go from barely making it on as a reserve to now starting the game.
For a long time it gave me nightmares, witnessing an injustice like that. It’s a constant reminder of just how unfair this world can be.I can still hear them taunting him, Silly Rabbit tricks are for kids.I mean why couldn’t they just give him some cereal?

Doc Rivers has a hard on for Bam, Windy made a note of that when he called around to coaches asking for DPOY votes one year that Bam finished top 3 in votes. Isnt he the coach of the East this year made sense that he regards 2 way players higher than premier scorers.

It all depends if we are trying to win a championship? Also do we think our additional player and picks are capable of getting a Butler replacement or do we get painfully out bid? Again it all depends if we are tying to win a championship.

Do we select a RoTY from the Eastern Conference and one from the WC now? Then I could see, but not the way he's been playing recently, lol. Still a plus contributor but he's locked into the third spot at best

I think his impact in the playoff can be a difference maker. We get destroyed by guards. Especially, Brunson and Derrick White can kill us, but I think he can do a decent job slowing them down in the slower paced playoff series

He's certainly not giving the Bucks a much better chance to win it all, lol

Never ever pay a premium for an old, short pg with no defense. I'd been happy to have him at our price, but older stars, you wanna pick them up like we did w Love. At a serious discount. Like we've done w Payton, Walker, Zo (when he came back for the championship), RayRay, etc. Otherwise we would often end up like how we did w Kyle Lowry, lol

It's possible, but with our current depth, somebody would probably have to be hurt or us going smaller than usual (fighting Kevin Love/Jovic for mins) imo
Crazy things do happen though, specially with Spo wielding the sword
