You go all in on a Bam/Giannis frontcourt, find the right pieces around them over the coming years to flourish.

If you assume the deal is Herro, Ware, Jaime, Rozier's contract (pending NBA approval) and picks for Giannis and Portis.

PG - Mitchell / Smith / Jakucionois
SG - Powell / Larsson
SF - Wiggins / Fontecchio
PF - Giannis / Jovic / Johnson
C - Adebayo / Portis

That's a solid lineup that would have a real chance to come out of the East. If we could keep Kasparas out of the deal too, that'd obviously be ideal, but I think you'd have to assume Ware, Herro and Jaime are goners if we're going for it.

Let’s be real here, we don’t play Bam and Ware together so why would anyone think Spo would play Giannis and Bam together? That’s not even factoring the Bucks will want Bam.

To not get laughed out of the room and still keep us in contention we will have to offer up Bam, Herro and Ware.
Herro is replaced by Powell
Bam is replaced by an MVP in Giannis
We don’t even start Ware or play him extended mins.

The team would be full of two way players. It would have that Heat defensive identity.

Pg Mitchell
Sg Powell
Sf Wiggins
PF Jovic
C Giannis
With Jamie off the bench.

That team with Spo easily makes the Eastern Finals. Fill out the rest of the roster with vet min player and undrafted athletic defensive players. We still get to use Terry for another trade.

Bonus we lose player fans in the trade so it’s a win win. With Herro Bam and Ware the Bucks have a core that should keep them in striking distance of the play in so they can sell that to the fans and Bam and Ware are locked up since it’s hard for them to attract player because of location. This is assuming we can even convince Giannis to come here, it looks like he has his eyes set on the Knicks.

Which player fans are we losing?

Here are the cumulative net ratings, ORTG and DRTG for Miami's core 2-player lineups from post-Jimmy trade last season through today (note: I only included starters that were on the team last year and still on team):

Image

Here are cumulative net ratings, ORTG and DRTG of the same players, while excluding the 1st 8 games of this season:

Image

Note that I wanted to control for this stretch of games bc of the drastic split in play and impact between Ware's 1st 8 games--where he was worst on the team in both ORTG and DRTG and playing like a fish out of water independent of context--and the rest of the season (14 games and counting) where he has been a top 4 impact player in both ORTG and DRTG on the team. This is particularly compelling to control for IMO bc most of Bam's minutes with Ware this season came before Ware turned it around (note that Ware was equally awful whether he was on the floor with Bam or not during this stretch) and Herro has only played with good Ware this season. So I wanted to control to see what the players look like with the current form of Ware. For instance, Bam and Ware have a +14.6 net rating in their 56 minutes on the floor together with the best DRTG on the team of any 2-man lineup.

A lot to digest, opine on, and monitor. Do with the info what you will...

Imagine Lakers get Luka and Giannis for Reaves AD Knect Christie and some picks. Lmao.
All of that should've been sent to get Luka given his skill and age. Sheesh.

The Mavs not at least getting Reaves in the Luka deal is crazy, I actually saw Nico Harrison at the airport in Atlanta yesterday lol

Yeah I mean. Reaves growth has been something else. You could almost argue Reaves AD FRP Christie now for Luka would be too much. But not getting another frp and knecht or anything else at the time... my god...

Was Nico on his way to cancun? Tulum? Lmao

Haha I’m not sure, he was passing by with his wife so I’m sure she had him taking her somewhere nice lol

The quality, production and youth of Herro, Ware and JJJ I honestly believe is hard to beat. Herro is the most talented player out of anll players rumored to be offered in the league (unless KAT is in play) Ware and JJJ are more valuable than any individual first round pick.

Unless a team like SA liquidates all of its assists, I think Miami has a legit shot.

Short window, but I honestly think trading Wiggins plus a pick for Kawhi would turn Miami into the best team in the East and legit contenders. Huge boost. Seamless fit.

Additionally, this offseason trading Herro+Jaquez+Ware+Jovic for Giannis is effectively a perfect salary match.

3 guards with kawhi in the playoffs? You have alot more faith in that group than I.

They'd need to at least get djj in return too.

And it woukd take multiple firsts. Remember, they have no picks now nor in the future. They won't trade thejr best asset for a salary dump and a late first. Makes no sense, but then again, it is the clippers.

Rozier expires, Wiggins opts out. That leaves a late 1st for kawhi. Its a no brainer if the clips to do it.

I'm not a big fan of acquiring divas, even one as passive as Kawhi, but Wiggins, Rozier, and a 1st would be worth the gamble, as much as it pains me to admit it.

FWIW, Kawhi is averaging 26-5-3 2 steals on 50-40-97 in 31.5mpg.

1 takeaway that jumps out: Wiggins+Ware is not proving to be a strong defensive pairing.

Reaves is a much better player than Herro and if I were Bucks I'd far prefer him than Herro. Reaves has started the year as a top 15 player and isn't a complete disaster on defense.

What turns the tides to us is the addition of Ware, any of the other young guys, and the fact that we have more picks

Reaves is better but Miami in this hypothetical is also giving up Ware, JJJ, and more draft capital than the Lakers would be.
