No one gives a damn about Hassan or Dragic around the league. These are your run of the mill guys that are good players but won't attract other FA or take us to the promised land.

This is a star league now more than ever, guys are literally right now colluding all over the league to form the next and next "super team". It would be a heck of a start if he had a star PG that players all over the league love and want to play with.

This is where I like having Riley. I know most of you will say "no way our chemistry blabla" but Riley..... Riley knows what has to be done.

If he can turn a d league guy from Lebanon and Dragic etc into a young Star PG that will attract big names all over the place to Miami, he will do it no doubt about it. I have no faith in Riley to build a conventional team with solid players here and there 1-15. Riley is the type that will go for the big fish. Riley is the type of guy that goes for the disgruntled star. Riley is the type of guy that would make this trade. And I hope he does. This team is a mediocre team at best with no superstar in sight.

Go get him Riles.

Whiteside, Dragic, (anyone else have your pick Cavs) and we will even eat Shumpert contract to boot.

What's the alternative? Run back this same mediocre team and hope for the best? No one is beating the Warriors right now. So landing Kyrie could bring us PG13 next season and Cousins etc. This is what Riley is good at, and I expect Kyrie in a heat uniform pretty soon to be honest.

Wouldn't touch Hassan. He means too much to the defense, and he's not an offensive liability like some legit rim protectors.

If you look through my posts you would see I'm one of his biggest fans. But Hassan is the only player on the team that even gets the Cavs to pick up the phone. Anyone and everyone should be availiable. No one on this team is good enough to be an untouchable.

finally someone gets it!!

+1

but it seems that Dan Gilbert is being a spiteful little brat, saying that the Cavs aren't interested in ANY of our players? Lmao. We are loaded with youth and role playing talent who could help them surround Lebron.....

I don't doubt it. Like I said no one on this team is good enough to be an untouchable. I would call the Cavs and tell them to take what they want.

Having Kyrie right now would mean having a far better team down the line. Guys will come to Miami to play with him. But if the Cavs think our players won't help then we are screwed.

^ I kinda agree with you.

Irving is a whale. In this league, more than ever, you need a star. Dragic and Whiteside don't get anyones pulse moving, as much as I like them.

4x All Star
1x All-NBA
ROY
NBA Champion

25/3/6 on 47% and 2.5 threes per game. Can he be better? Possibly.

Acquiring Kyrie would make this offseason a resounding success. Particularly if we can somehow do it while retaining Justise.

PG - Irving
SG - Waiters
SF - Winslow
PF - Olynyk
C - Whiteside

That's a pretty damn solid starting 5, with nice bench players in Ellington and JJ to round out the heavy lifting rotation.

This is me assuming a package of Dragic/JRich/2023 1st would get it done...which it may not...

You don't trade BOTH Hassan and Dragic for Irving. He's an allstar but not a superstar. You trade those 2 for Irving, and you are a lottery team with no pick. The ideal solution is to pair Ky with Hassan + the other role players and you've got yourself a solid playoff team. By no means do you give up both of the mentioned players. Riley ain't stupid. He's a god.

To me you think about if you can turn around and get a Drummond, Vucevic or even Monroe in the same deal. Send Dragic to the Pistons, Magic, or Bucks. Someone with a low post presence. Would be perfect if we could have kept Reed. He played great when Whiteside sat.

I'm pretty sure we have our 2019 and 2020 first round picks, don't we? At least when I search online it says we do.

Don't believe we can trade them though, gotta keep one every second year if you trade the other. Could only deal them on draft night after making the pick. I'd happily be mistaken though.

Irving has become the most overrated player around.

Ricky Davis 2.0. Plays great with Bron, but sucks when not. On top of that he only plays half the game. 50% of the time he is a liability. He is all shine, & no substance.

2023 pick is the earliest one we can deal. Been confirmed plenty of times already.

Hey, thanks :) I don't usually post but I pop in during the off-season usually. I like to discuss the moves we can make to improve after every season. Plus I need something to do when there's no games.

What assets can the Cavs get though. Teams not on the list are hesitant to trade for him and teams on the list don't have great assets. Not sure how this all ends.

Irving, Shumpert, and Frye for Bledsoe, Warren, Chandler, and Heat's 1st rd pick is the trade i think has the best chance of happening. Cavs get suitable replacement at PG in Bledsoe who also happens to be an LBJ fav, Warren is a young swing man, Chandler gives them a bigger presence at the Center spot, and they get a draft asset though probably not a very desirable one since I think we finish top 3 in the East. For the Suns they get a star in Irving to sell to the fan base, Shumpert brings his much needed defense off the bench behind Booker and replaces the loss of Knight, and former Sun and wildcat Frye comes back to the franchise. In hindsight does not seem like the Suns are giving up much.

Suns have about 7 million in cap space to absorb the extra incoming salary. This helps the Cavs save a ton of money in luxury tax. Since the Suns are helping out the Cavs financially this allows the Suns to offer the presumed to be chit Heat pick. In the end I feel like this is the deal that makes sense for both parties involved. In the grand scheme of things it seems like a low risk move for the Suns for two years of trying to sell Kyrie as the face of the franchise and a super max to offer him. Bledsoe would be a free agent anyway in two years so all it basically comes down to is Warren and 1st rd pick. Win Win deal for both teams imo.

Return to Miami Heat
