If u don't want 2b here, the way things work, u don't like it, then don't b here. U have 2 stand on something. If Miami ain't standing on something, they become alot of these organizations trying 2 find their identity. This is the culture, bro -Wade

Phx did it because they saw a chance to buy low and had no real other way of improving their team but I think that they sold their soul for a team that won’t win a championship at all but that’s on them

Overall I applaud the heat for showing patience and not being short sighted for Beal. Only worth it if we don’t become a 2nd apron team (getting out of Robinson money) and not draining our assets

Why? We would still be left with Herro and Duncan + basically all of our picks minus one from the Beal trade. Now maybe if Herro value around the league is trash so I could sorta understand. I dont think that is the case but I could be wrong. The simple question is what would Herro + Duncan + all the picks and swaps get us.

In this case, if we were to A. have won the trade. Miami would have needed to trade Herro and Duncan + Picks for a one year expiring contract and some slight depth.

the way to look at this is this way:

Miami has two positive tax reducing salaries if they are kept on the team (Oladipo & Lowry) means money that comes off the book reducing our tax implication. If you trade them both for equal salary then next year that salary does not come off the books, so they need to really careful how they trade these contracts and which ones they keep. If Miami keeps them then they get salary relief once they contracts expire and they become free agents.

Miami has two negative tax adding salaries if they are kept on the team ( Herro & Duncan ) means money that is tied for duration of the next 3 years for Duncan and 4 years for Herro. If you trade them both for equal salary then next year that salary does not come off the books. Miami would need to trade for contracts on 1 year deals in this case so they can receive savings next year and avoid the 2nd tax apron.

Miami has to trade them in combination in a specific combination ( Herro with Oladipo ) or ( Herro with Lowry) or (Duncan with Oladipo) or (Duncan with Lowry) or even (Herro with Duncan).

The exemption of trading (Lowry & Oladipo) is if you get back a contract that is also a one year rental that expires just like them.

Excellent explanation

Herro reminds me of Brian Hartline on the dolphins.. dolphins fans kept saying what a great receiver he was.. yea who else is Tannehill going to throw it to.. he got a bunch of targets because we were so weak in that position.. once he went to another team, he couldnt get on the field..

Lowry > CP3. At least old *ss Lowry can play through injuries these past 2 playoffs and is quite servicable. It's a fact and proven.

How many 6fters are out there that can score 20+ efficiently?

If anything, now is the time to tie in in 70m+ to bigs, imo. A guy with KP's skillset is rare. He's basically a Jokic-lite.

He's not Jokic, bargain brand doesn't do it in the league. Trae Young is not technically Steph Curry, same way that this won't work

That same idealism would've worked for his last two teams if he was that nice. I'd do 20 M's at max, but It's a bad investment imo

He's not a superstar, he's a borderline all-star. He can be a great player in the right situation. He'd be the 2nd / 3rd option here and he can thrive in that role.

If you're expecting KP to carry you to a chip the same way Jokic did with the Nuggets, you'd be severely disappointed.. however, if you're expecting KP to help Jimmy Butler and Bam Adebayo compete for a title, you very well may be satisfied..

Porzingis would be our best offensive big man since Chris Bosh. He'd have a very similar impact offensively as well - spacing the floor, setting solid screens, and popping out for open shots to clear the paint. Can also do work from the mid/low post area as well.

If you're acquiring KP to be the main guy on a team, you're making the wrong move. However, if you're going to pair him up with a top 10 player in Jimmy Butler and a top 20-25 player in Bam Adebayo, you'll setup yourself up for success - just like pairing Jrue Holiday with Giannis and Middleton, Andrew Wiggins with Curry and Draymond, and Aaron Gordon with Jokic and Murray. Tingis Pingis is a step above all of those guys as well.

So other than Bam scoring a BBW, have we landed anyone yet?

Here's my plan for the offseason! I'm sorry you're going to hate it.

Lowry + Oladipo + #18 to cap space team (e.g.; Spurs, Jazz, Rockets--who might need it if they strike out on Harden, or Wiz)
Buy into 2nd round: target one of these 3 (in this order):

Marcus Sasser (PG/SG, 6-2, 196, 6-7 ws) older college prospect who was brilliant at Houston
Tristan Vukčević (PF, 7-0, 223, 7-2 ws) tall, thin, serbian forward, good shooter, good passer
Jalen Wilson (F, 6-6, 230, 6-8 ws) solid forward prospect, too small to be pf though, decent 3p shootr

Image

Add another prospect from summer league (preferably a good forward)
Vet min pg can be Dragic or Westbrick. Won't play much, esp if we draft Sasser, who would get lots of time too.

I run with Vincent-Herro-Butler-Martin-Bam. DRob, Highsmith, Love first off the bench. During regular season give Butler plenty of rest. Herro & Bam lead the team most nights. Play Jovic, Cain, Highsmith, Yurtseven, and rookies a ton. Find a sponsor who has a middle-finger raised as a company logo.

Something like this:

Image

Goal of making playoffs is pretty easy. At deadline if we have a good team that just needs reinforcements, make a trade. Use salaries to match target. Don't be stupid.

I remember 11-30 with these guys. ^
