“Without a doubt, I really believe that [I’ll eventually be the best shooting guard in the NBA]. This year, I’m going to show a lot of people who doubted me and still doubt me. I’m going to show them. And I don’t need praise and all of that. I just want to be respected. I’m coming. That’s all I have to say. I’ve taken my work ethic to another level and I feel as though I still have something to prove. So, watch out.”

“I’m coming,” Waiters told HOOPSWORLD in a phone interview. “I just feel as though I’m next up as far as shooting guards. If you look around, you know, Kobe [Bryant] and [Dwyane] Wade and those guys, they paved the way for a player like me and they’re almost done. It’s not like that, but I’m just saying, I’m coming. I just want everybody to know that.”

He had 3 preferred teams and we just happened to be one of them, thats why Riley made the trade

There's a fine line between being confident and ambitious to being delusional and unaware.
Waiters seems to leaning towards the latter.

But hell, let's see him prove it - He has a good handle, can kinda shoot the 3? can kinda drive in traffic? good first step?
not sure why he never gets to the FT line..but let's see. I guess he was the 4th pick for some reason...I'm just not sure why.

1. yells "And1" on every drive.

2. Shot is ugly, but sometimes goes in (33% carrer from 3)

3. Bad shot selection, loves the tough long 2's.

4. Best skill is first step + handle. Seems explosive driving, not sure about the finishing.

5. Seems kinda chubby to me. Think he can get in better shape here, should be lighter IMO.

So If he gets in Heat shape, improves shot selection, plays aggressive by driving more, focuses on defense, and improves 3 point shooting - he can do well.

A little competition never hurt anybody. Those boys are gonna have to work for it.

I can't see why Waiters is necessary for competition. Besides, if beating out Dion Waiters is someone's motivation, he'll probably be out of the league in a couple of years anyway.

Prior to Dion's signing, with Wade gone it was going to be a competition between Rich and TJ to see who starts. Thing is even then the guy who who came off of the bench would still be guaranteed his minutes since he'd be the primary PG/SG backup. With Waiters here though now you have another guy who's averaged 27mpg throughout his career playing for another contract. Now the guy who doesn't start isn't guaranteed anything. The fact that Dion isn't the most likable guy adds even more to that. That is why Waiter's is competition.

You gave Dragic 34 minutes, which leaves 14 minutes at PG for Rich/TJ (we already killed Weber chances at this point).

let's add the minutes you gave other SG's : Waiters 25 + Ellington 14 + Rich 28 + TJ 28 = 95 minutes.

Actual playable minutes at SG + 14 minutes as backup PG = 62.

So despite giving Weber and Mcgruber zero chances, we're missing 33 minutes for some of these names.

I'm not saying saying that they'll play those minutes every game for 82 games. Like I said, last season it looked like Rich was going to live in Sioux Falls but then when injury's/ trades took place he got his shot and basically started playing 30mpg from the ASB into the playoffs.

The same thing will happen this season. Guys will get hurt or moved and players will get their shot. Until then calm down.

He's not coming, he's still too stupid. With that said though he's good enough defensively when he wants to be to earn PT with Spo. Rich and TJ better stay woke otherwise Dion is gonna take the starting role away from them both.

Boys better work hard this summer.

A ton more Mileage? its not like Hassan was sitting on his ass.
Better attitude is a stretch, Boogie's with the worst management in the league by far.
At the end of the day Boogie is better, younger and cheaper for 2 more seasons.
I like Hassan and a Boogie trade is unrealistic but C'mon it's not even a debate.

His shot selection is horrible, he makes knucklehead plays and he'll chuck the ball first without reading the defense or allowing the play to develop. If you think Mario Chalmers was frustrating... with that being said, Waiters is very talented. He can play off the dribble and get to the paint, he can shoot a little, very athletic, can handle ball, pass and can play defense when he is locked in. Much like Hassan Whiteside, he is his own worst enemy. It took Hassan a long time to "get it". Let's hope Waiters can come around as well.
