According to Le Batard :

1.Hassan has been fined multiple times because of banned social media usage
2.Battier was there on a Hassan tryout before 2013/4 season, Was not impressed. Hassan laid down on the floor after some sprints, Battier wrote him off.
3.Now Battier is a fan. Sais we should pay the man. He can't grasp the change. "perfect storm" of mental, getting in shape, Heat culture, opportunity on court.
4. Heat are going to offer him Max, but will ask for a discount in order to maximize cap.
5. Battier sais the playoffs, which are a DIFFERENT ANIMAL, will say a lot. If he can absorb scouting session, adjustments, pressure - then it's an easy max. If he struggles - might give Heat a negotiation angle.
6. Heat front office Believe Durant is NOT a pipe dream.

As long as they pay Whiteside this summer, I'm happy. People will come play with this guy, he's too dominant.

Its interesting but the better question is what year do the Heat believe Durant is most attainable?

Also the whole give the Heat a negotiation angle is just plain idiotic. Its like we are forgetting there will be teams lining up to throw him the max? Did we try to haggle with Bosh knowing other teams were ready to poach him? No we had to offer the MAX to keep him.

a lineup of

dragic
jrich
winslow
kd
whiteside

seems amazing.

That lineup would win zero rings.

Some of you are gonna be mighty disappointed in where KD is gonna go.

KD isn't and was never a real possibility.

Time will tell.

Pistons tickets have been so hard to come by lately, since they are headed to the playoffs. But i worked my magic and got some really good seats near the HEAT's bench for their final visit on April 12th. I'm so excited, i get to finally meet the GOAT and hopefully get pics/autograph with him. :D

Heats free agents:
1. Hassan 2. Wade. 3. Deng 4. Joe Johnson

with $38m of cap space, assuming Hassan gets $20m, then whats next for the other free agents?

Riley is not going to sell KD on waiting another year. Why? Because people change their mind in a year, players can regress in a year, other teams can emerge in a year. The push will be on to get him this summer and Im sure if it came to it Riley would deal Dragic for space and let TJ/Richardson compete for a starting spot.

But it makes no sense when you think about it. You are basically saying Pat will sell KD on playing with....Bosh since we are trying to trade Dragic? Wade is not signed, Whiteside will do whats best for him but just simple math says we cant if we try to get KD.

So basically KD leaves OK for a team consisting of Bosh, maybe Wade and maybe Dragic? What sense does that make? With a roster like that its like we are encouraging him to sign with the Warriors. Again our best chance logically would be next year if KD takes a 1+1 contract which will give him $$$.

No, im not "basically saying" anything beyond Riley wont be able to sell KD on waiting a year for the reasons I outlined.

-people change their minds in a year
-players can regress in a year
-other teams can emerge in a year

There's no belief anywhere that Wade wont be resigning here and obviously a pitch to KD would
Include Whiteside. So lets stop acting like those are two unknown variables in this strictly hypothetical situation.

Wade 3yr $43mill which would give him a base of around $13mill, so $5mill left. If we can somehow dump McBob then we'd have $11mill left which should he enough for Deng considering how much mileage he has I think he'll take less per year in return for security. So let's say he gets $10mill, then the only way we keep JJ is if we get Whiteside for less than the max, even if it's only 1-2mill per year less. Wade would probably also give up a little to fit in JJ.

To me though that's plan b. Plan a is to go after Durant hard which LeBatard has said the Heat FO think is actually possible and not a pipe dream. If we land him then nothing is off of the table.

In that situation I could see us moving Goran and using his money to fit in Hassan/Wade. Then in 2017 we'd also have the ability to go after Blake Griffin or Russell Westbrook.

We'll see, there are a lot of moving parts and Wade is the only old guy on our team that is safe imo.

But they are unknown variables not to mention the money just doesnt add up sadly. 38 mil wont give you two max contracts. Whiteside is 20 mil Durant is over 20+ mil and you dont have money for Wade, JJ, Deng.

Quiz post is about trying to keep this team together as it is and how to make the numbers fit. It does not include KD.

If we were to include KD we would need to get rid of Dragic at the very least and most likely Deng and JJ and even then its tricky. Im not saying its 100% impossible but highly unrealistic. In that situation you are basically having KD leave his team for one with an older Wade, Bosh with health issues and Whiteside (assuming he stays). Does that make any sense? Yeah thats the problem. Then compare that team to the Warriors with KD. Our most realistic chance to get him is next offseason. We will have cap space and by KD signing a 1+1 deal he can get if im not mistake 30% of the cap so a contract over 30+ mil a year. If KD were to give up 30+ mil a year it would be for a team that will win him rings, sadly that is not us as currently constructed but the Warriors.

Is that not what me and Quiz both said? Jesus man, I'm tired of the back and forth, just keep it moving. This isn't even worth discussing.

If you're right, then Heat stay the same roster for next season except that maybe an improve Winslow and Richardson. Not satisfied as a playoff team. I want championship team. KD is the answer but someone needs to sacrifice or let go.
