normally i defend Spo, but i've been really puzzled by his rotations lateley...

heat were going on a tear with 5 minutes left in the 2nd quarter...then he took out wade again. didnt really understand that....he should have kept him in there until he emptied his tank....and sit him for the last 2 minutes of the half.

I know this is going to hurt the feelings of the die-hard Joel fans but...

1st Half Analysis

Good:
Everybody but Joel.

Bad:
Joel.

He KILLED our momentum.

to be honest, i don't know why Spo hasn't rolled the dice on Damp yet. in all fairness, Anthony just does not have the length to bother Aldridge w/o fouling him. i know Z can't play any extra mins, and Juwan isn't doing anything but getting older w/ every second he's on the floor.

but, hey......maybe Joel has played his quota for the night.

Only complaint I have is Spo sitting Wade when he was hot. Other than that, Miller should be taking more of Jone's minutes. PEACE.

The thought of Spo in a 7 game series terrifies me. He's so rigid and predictable that other coaches are going to pick him apart. It's gonna be like playing poker against somebody with X-Ray glasses on.

From the sound of things it seems the best thing Joel can do today is picking up fouls to force himself back to the bench

How many Heat games do you watch a year? His rotations have been off ever since he became our headcoach.

I'm not really gonna put anything on Spo other than not playing Dampier. I can't really pinpoint one sole reason why they're still in this. Defense isn't bad. We're playing fine offensively. Just got to go on a run or two to get some separation.

EDIT: Ok maybe Joel is the sole reason

lol i watch every game....and i defend his rotations because i know he's a very level-headed coach. he's staying with his rotations, to see what develops....it is a long season anyhow. but he's normally not inclined to bench a player when he's hot. that i just dont get.

You need more than 0 rebounds from a Center when he plays 13 minutes. Hell you need more than 0 rebounds from a PG in 13 minutes.

Joel has played 13 minutes and not a damn tally on the box score other than 2 fouls. When Elias Sports Bureau gets that hustle statistic up and running though, boy look out!

Spo shoehorns Anthony into the game whenever he can, even in games like this one where it's clear his undersized ass isn't going to be of much value and another play is better. However, he can't find any spot duty for Miller (who actually can be a huge help to this team) to work himself into a groove on a continuing basis. Crazy.

still cant say I agree with not using these games only barely through 1/2 of the season to give Dampier heavy minutes at the center spot and see if he could start to mesh well enough to add some stability to that position to the point where we arent changing minute allocation at C based on matchup.

but hey..thats just me

the Big 3 LOOK GREAT together though. great chemistry. and more fun to watch then ANY Heat basketball EVER. hands down IMO.

The Blazers are a very good home team, as I mentioned before the game, and they managed to keep everybody except for the big three out of the game. I knew this wasn't going to be easy. I hope we can extend our winning streak.

It just blows my mind that Dampier and Miller just sat on the bench in the first half

Spoelstra did stress the reason he used Damp against Milwaukee was because he looked good in their first meeting. In other words, he'd have probably just stuck with Joel otherwise.

This is what I don't get. Damp has to look really good to get playing time. Joel just has to... be alive? Foul people? I don't know.

Damp has never looked as bad to me as Joel does on a consistent basis. Joel has brilliant games, but most of the time he's just bad to mediocre.
