I doubt it KD, he still weighs the same. He cut fat and added some muscle but its not like he bulked up or anything.

He looks like a toothpick in those videos. But I could be very wrong about that.

I truly don't know why his shot is slower this year. He had a really nice touch on his shot too.

Oh and I can see why he struggles with screening for Dragic. Wade is a master at making defenders run into screens. The angle doesn't matter, he knows how to use the angles of Hassan's screens effectively. I think CP3 is the same way, as was Nash. Dragic on the other hand seems to be a bit linear with screens. They have to be set at a certain angle or the setter has to be a threat to shoot to make the defense make a decision. With Whiteside, they can crowd the lane. With Bosh, they have to choose to stay at home or switch. Until Hassan is a threat to pop those mid range jumpers, he and Dragic will continue to struggle on screen plays.

I've noticed that he's seeing a lot of doubles lately. Our spacing isn't that great as is and teams are willing to gamble on D betting that Hassan won't be able to get the ball to the open man. Though I think its on the guards to get in good position to receive and easy pass from him. It's not Hassan's job to play make.

Look at the play at 1:30 from the Hawks game. They were guarding him one on one straight up and Hassan completely blew by a good defender. Makes you wonder what Hassan would look like if he were surrounded by shooters.

Hassan doesn't provide spacing the way Bosh does with his shooting ability but Hassan does draw a lot of attention when he rolls to the rim. Teams are game planning against his lobs sometimes committing multiple guys to him.

This opens up drives to the rim for Wade who knows how to use Whiteside as a big distraction, since teams can no longer trap him out of a PnR. Dragic is a lot more predictable than Wade though. Wade throws up floaters where neither the D nor Whiteside knows if he's passing or shooting. Dragic to Whiteside connections are rarely ever that effortless.

That's why Wade's a HoFer. Knocking on 34 and still crafty as hell.

Where were you the moment when Whiteside became Deandre Jordanside?

seems fair game as he'll seldom see the same single coverage, it was bad last year but now teams are crowding the paint even more and our offense looks even less fluid. How did this happen?

Bosh was suppose to make the two a tandem and now we are just living and dying on whatever Bosh gives us. Not particularly blaming but how is the spacing seemingly worse or just as bad now. Dragic/Bosh/Deng should not be such a bad shooting line-up. the small sample size of Bosh/Wade/Whiteside was our clinging hope this offseason but I'm starting to doubt if our starters can fit in well together, 20 games in and the starters still haven't really played well together

Seriously, let's trade Whiteside

Post#188 » by miula » Fri Dec 11, 2015 2:54 am

I don't know why everyone is so high on Whiteside in this board.

Whiteside has the talents, for sure. But he has many problems as well.

His high fg% is due to lobs, not his post offense. He is at best a 3rd option on offense who thinks he can be the alpha on a team.

And his defense is not that great either. While he does get his blocks, he is bad at PnR defense.

In this summer, Whiteside is 100% going to be overpaid, too many teams have capspace.

If we pay the max to sign him, we are doomed to have a 20M center who is a average post scorer. average defender, good rebounder who also easy to be boxed out....

While I hate Spo as much as you do, not playing Whiteside isn't something he did wrong.

I am so sick of this board venting on Spo not playing Whiteside.

Whiteside is not that good, period. He has the potential to be great but he isn't now. And giving him more playing time just to please him so he will sign with us in the off-season? If he is not that good, why is that important?

Whiteside is widely overrated by some fans here, seriously.

Well for one, Whiteside doesn't have any trade value. Literally none, that reason for that is because we don't own his bird rights.

Secondly I think people seem to have trouble understanding what the market is going to be like. Here's a look at the available free agents: http://hoopshype.com/2015/12/10/nba-free-agency-2016-the-top-players/

Looking at that list not counting the restricted free agents it's very much going to be Durant or bust unless the plan is to go all in on AL Horford or the corpse of Dwight Howard.

This time next year people like Ryan Anderson, Nicholas Batum, and Evan Fournier will all be receiving a max contract similar to the one you'd consider to be an overpay for Whiteside.

So with all that said and understanding the way the market will be. With people like Mike Conley standing a good chance at receiving a max contract with a $25mill base salary you start to see why resigning Whiteside is important.

He isn't perfect but his issues particularly on the defensive end are correctable, hard work, discipline plus some experience will go a long way in improving his defense. He's not perfect but he's going to be one of the most sought after free agents in 2016 and for good reason.

I heart from some Gorans friend Whiteside and Goran are working some things on offence lately but doesnt work yet in the games only on practice so i will give Whiteside until end of the season becouse he doesn't have any trade value right now and trading rumors for Melo are just stuppid if u want KD.

I sticky'd this thread, let's try to keep all Hassan talk centered here.

We seem to have a new thread made about him after every game. Hassan's play and his contract will be a big talking point all season long.

Hassan is going to get paid big money one way or another. Whether it be us who gives it to him or somebody else, let's all enjoy Hassan Whiteside's road to the max.
