IDK gom, Duke got a really amazing recruiting class this year. They're poised to make a title run which means that Grayson will have a lot of opportunity to make a name for himself.

Like Rex said he's already showed that he's an incredibly efficient college scorer putting up 21.6ppg on nearly 62%TS. On top of that he also has an insane ft draw rate of nearly 50%, and those numbers per 40 stayed consistent from his first year to his 2nd year even though his minutes went from only 9 to over 36. Hell his efficiency actually improved even though he was shooting a lot more.

He looked really shaky against Kentucky last season, a performance that exposed all of his flaws on a big stage but he still has time to rectify that. Even if this class is loaded with young studs, the older guys like Frank Kaminsky always manage to sneak in.

Dru Smith very lucky he got that 500k this year. He should invest and manage a subway after all this-MettaWorldPanda

Looking forward to draft never makes sense to me. Look at NO they got the best player in a generation in A. Davis and they still haven't even sniffed the playoffs. Even look at Cleveland with James. He was the best player in the league and couldn't win anything. We already have young players that need to develop in Winslow, J. Rich, TJ and Whiteside adding another one no matter how good is just not going to make any difference for the foreseeable future !!

Yes, but those two franchises do not have the culture we have established here. If we had either of those two from draft onwards we would have given them more championships - heck we've given Bron more rings than Cavs have :D

I agree that the near future is less bright with another youngster, but if you added a generational talent (like AD or Bron) to this group you can expect a new dynasty to rise from FL!

I put out a Mock, to start thinking about this class myself and organize my thoughts a bit,

Mock Draft 2017

4.Image OG Anunoby Wing/Combo-Forward Indiana 19.Image Jonathan Isaac Combo-Forward Florida St.
5.Image Frank Ntilikina Guard France 20.Image Terrance Ferguson Wing USA
6.Image Harry Giles Big Duke 21.Image Bam Adebayo Big Kentucky

Order is sort of my prediction at this point for NBA next seasons standings
Traded picks in the 1st,
BOS have the right to change their pick with Brooklyn's.
DEN gets MEM's pick
TOR gets LA's pick
UTA gets Golden St's pick

Guys that could've made it,

Jawun Evans Guard Oklahoma St.
Devonte Graham Guard Kansas
Monte Morris Guard Iowa St.
Grayson Allen Guard Duke
Sviatoslav Mykhailiuk Wing Kansas
Vince Edwards Wing/Combo-Forward Purdue
VJ Beachem Wing/Combo-Forward Notre Dame
Justin Jackson Wing/Combo-Forward North Carolina
Dedric Lawson Combo-Forward Memphis
Kyle Kuzma Combo-Forward Utah
Carlton Bragg Combo-Forward Kansas

The rest that you might think should/could be there probably are mocked as not declaring, for example (Hartenstein, Jackson, Jeanne or Yurtseven).

I can't see BOS drafting another PG and Chicago doing that bad.

NO made the playoffs with Davis already btw. I actually trust the heat to put talent around someone. Also, nobody on this roster has proven to be a franchise player. We need one.

This is a draft that potentially has 5: Smith, Fultz, Tatum, Jackson & Giles. As we are currently constructed Giles, Tatum & Jackson are the bet fits.
If we look at how the team is current up constructed we are probably still in the order of a 30-32 win team, which will probably only get us to 5th or 6th (behind Sixers, Nets, Suns Lakers for sure, and on par with the Kings & Nuggets). Vegas Superbook had the under/over for us as 36.5 wins, before the Bosh situation, so that would probably come down to around 31.5 (his WS was 3.6 & 6.4 the past 2 years, despite only playing 1/2 the season, so subtracting 4 seems about right).

Moving Dragic creates more flexibility at draft time, and hugely increases the chance of a top-5 pick. But, unless we are getting another lotto pick and a prospect in the return, then I'd rather keep him and try to build around what we have.

Tatum has no shot at been a franchise talent, and Giles has a major flaw with his knees, report from Duke are not good regarding his explosivity and athleticism after his second ACL
The Heat with health and not tanking coming from the FO are good for 35W at least, the East is weak as ****, to go get a franchise changer you def need to trade Dragic for rebuilding pieces.

I think we wont be bad enough to draft top 5. The east is weak but this Heat team is not the worst team in the nba, I like what am seeing so far in the pre-season(defense-fast tempo and ball movement)

It is preseason, and there will be a step up by other teams when we play them in the regular season. Team that rely on pace and intensity do tend to start off well but hit a wall. Having said that, I do agree that it looks like we won't be drafting in the top-5, barring a lotto win.

At the moment I'd still only have Nets, 6ers, & Lakers definitely below us. But with Middleton's injury I would expand the next tier to Bucks, Pelicans, Kings, Magic, Nuggets & us. Of this group the 2 teams that throw in the towels first will be in the top-5. Being the best in this group is the difference between picking 4th and 9th.

Plus the next tier in the East isn't actually much better: Wizards, Knicks, Bulls, & Hornets, so a team that gets off to a good start can look like fools gold for a lot longer than normal.

Isn't that what we always do? Le Batard said we had Justise at #4 on our draft board.

Yeah, looking through our first round history, that's pretty much what we seem to do. Occasionally there are a couple similar level players and then we pick fit, but BPA seems to be the main method.

Likely BPA will be either a SF or a PG, will we still go BPA if it's a PG?
