Both are a big injury risk = draw

Love's contract is a year shorter - big Love advantage

Love is more experienced, less likely to cry about role - small Love advantage

Love deal might net us Sexton as well, Cavs not trying to contend right now while Mavs are - huge Love advantage

Skillset wise - Healthy Porzingis is a C while Love is a PF, I think we'll be better with a huge shot blocking C next to Bam since both Love and Porzingis are legit 3 point shooters- small Advantage Porzingis.

Porzingis is MUCH more athletic, 7 years younger, and was a better shooter last year.

Personally, I trust the 26 year old to recover and become himself again if not better as he matures. It's hard for me to trust the 33 year old, especially defensively.

I don't get tempted to move Herro in a Sexton/Love deal, however if it is a 3 team deal involving Kristaps, I reconsider. I wonder if we can get Kristaps for the expirings of Goran and Iggy (Luka def wants Goran).

That balances out our roster a TON

Sexton/Nunn?
Duncan/Oladipo/Strus (He will take a big step forward next year)
Jimmy/We need a backup 3&D that's younger than Ariza
Bam/Precious
KP/Dedmon

Herro/Iggy to Cavs
Love/Dragic to Mavs
KP/Sexton to Heat

It works in the trade checker, as long as Mavs are happy to roll over their cap space until next year. Cavs save $22m in this deal, opening up over mad space & allowing them to take on a big contract for assets in a salary dump, or facilitate the movement of a superstar.

I like this a lot but would like a more pure PG on bench over Nunn. I say we S&T Nunn for a pick and trade exemption. Go after Derrick Rose with the MLE.

I want TJ McConnell in that role

Hope they at least have a hoop on set of those commercials for Yimmy and Bam to get some shooting practice in between takes

Truthfully though, we probably are better off without both.

Although I wouldn't make Kevin Love a high priority because of his contract he would help the Heat greatly at the 4. Although not the perfect fit next to Bam, Love can shoot the 3, rebound well and is a solid passer.

I do wonder if he's in a situation like Butler has been in, wanting to compete but understanding the FO has prioritized the development of younger players over winning basketball. Although we all know he wouldn't be worth his current value, he may be a much better player then he's shown in Cleveland if he's on a team that can be a competitor. At the very least, Miami's starting 5 with Love replacing Ariza at the 4 is a significant upgrade.

Dinwiddie doesn't think a 3 yr 60m offer to be a serious offer, apparently.

So much for getting an injury discount and I wonder what Oladipo is gonna want if Dinwiddie gets a big offer.

If Dinwiddie gets 20 mil per, it wouldn't be shocking.

Although I'm high on him, I wouldn't offer him that big of a bag, not with cheaper options available who are comparable to him.

But pretty much every year there are examples of teams overpaying for guys.

It's a players/sellers market.

It would be very shocking to me. Ball, Lowry, Conley, Shroeder, are going to get the biggest offers. Hell, Reggie Jackson and Cam Payne have played themselves into Dinwiddie’s slice of the pie.

Add in Rose, Nunn, and Devante Graham who all will likely command salaries in the range of 10-15m per.

I still think Dinwiddie might get a big offer. Perhaps it'll be on a short term deal, though.

Keldon Johnson and some no name guy from Detroit over Tyler Herro?

Tyler better take this to heart and come back with a vengeance, similar to how Bam did 2 years ago.

Return to Miami Heat
