Is it just me, or is committing 5/84 for a guy who has played 205 games in 7yrs absolutely wild?!

7 years in and they are still paying for potential. Just when it looks like they're getting right, they remind you that they are the Magic.
I wonder who they were bidding against.

For Jonathan Isaac it's probably that sunk cost problem, he was close to healthy this year, playing in 58 games, and played 36 of his last 45 games. For someone that only played 45 games in the previous 4 seasons, they'd hate someone else to nab him after all the sunk cost if he finally was healthy

Was looking on tank for the 2025 draft projections. The Nets are slotted to pick first. That pick belonged to Houston a couple weeks ago. Why in the hell would you give up such a lucrative piece? Like the day after they traded Mikal. Im still amazed.

The Rockets wanted those Sun's picks. Thats the real prize for them. They want Booker.

Was just reading that the Spurs have at least 2 draft picks in every draft up to 2031 (cept for 1 in 29).

You think ainge might hesitate sending him to spurs just to avoid building them up too much since they’re in the west ? Or he don’t give af and is just gonna get as many picks as possible regardless.

I wouldnt send a ton of picks for Lauri. Hes a good player but not THAT guy.
The Spurs traded away a nice piece in Dillingham this past draft that couldve helped them. I wonder how much interest theyd have in Lauri.

The way things are looking I’d say Lauri could net minimum 4 picks. The thing we have going for ourselves is picks don’t always pan out, but we’ve been making some solid ones lately. So JJJ & Jovic count as first rounders and solid ones at that.

I like Lauri, but Im looking at the cost and the chances that wed have a better squad in the end.
If Ainge wanted to trade Lauri for Herro and one pick then Id be interested.
I would like to see if our guys could develop rather than trading them. An organic chip would be so satisfying.

Would be awesome but they need to get their opportunities in order to blossom into those guys.
Hopefully spo gives them expanded roles

Re: Around the NBA, Twinny Twinny fo'!
I do wonder how much drafting Kel'el Ware had to do with Wembanyama's emergence in the NBA.
There are some similarities, not that Ware is even sniffing Wemby's skillset, but Spurs are going to be a force to be reckoned with for the next 15-20 years if Wemby can stay healthy. They have such a cache of 1st round draft picks for the next 7 or 8 years. I am not sure they will use them to spring for a superstar - I think the new model may be to actually keep drafting and having cost controlled depth throughout his career.
But having a tall, lanky, mobile center who can drill 3's, handle and block shots may be the best competitor to have opposite Wemby, but also to let the Heat game plan in practice against a similar type of player.
I am envious of Spurs and their strategy in a way I never was with the Warriors when they were saying they were light years ahead.

Brooklyn has 4 first rounders, OKC has 3 first rounders and the Spurs have 4 firsts in the 2025 draft.

Didn't check em all, but Spurs only get all four picks if Charlotte makes the playoffs and the Bulls are not one of the 10 worst teams. Both those things seem unlikely, especially with Derozan gone.

There's not much point structuring your team to match up with a team in the other conference. Too many things have to happen before you have to worry about them.
