Can Riley just reverse course after going public saying Miami won't trade Butler?

Don't think that matters much. It was just more of a ""if you want Jimmy stop sending me **** deals". If they get a good deal they will absolutely trade him. The only problem is because of new cba the list of teams that can trade for Jimmy is small. It's basically Suns/GSW unless they want a Lavine?

would Pat rather pay Beal than Butler? because Beal has 2+ player option which is pretty much 3 years.

Don’t think we’ll take either of those contracts. The books kinda need to be fixed next year and Beal and LaVine are not going to be worth the stress of being in repeater tax

We need a defender in the backcourt but some of you just love Duncan so much in the starting 5 leaving us with with a Duncan and Herro backcourt or whatever Highsmith on guard while Duncan gets man handled down low. Whatever it is we need a real PF unless we go with Jovic or Keshad over Highsmith and a defensive perimeter PG. Sucks cause we had that with Dru. Now we need to trade for that. Maybe Butler brings one in.

Maybe reversing things said privately, but for him to go pubic then change course a few weeks later is a really bad look, especially for someone who people seem to respect.

I think Riley sent a shot at Butler through the press on not trading Butler and Butler's decided to up the ante if he wasn't still feeling the effects of being sick.

I guarantee no one is going to care about what Riley says if Butler is traded tomorrow

They will the next time Riley tries to say something publicly. He should have just leaked that Miami wasn't trading him.

This is how the game is played. The public stuff is for leverage. GMs are not going to take that seriously. What matters more is what they are saying privately to other GMs. If Rlley broke his word or lied to another GM or agent in private that would hurt his credibility. But not something he put out to quiet the noise.

Bam might be the best point of attack defender we have. Ware cleaning up the paint. I can see the vision.

Especially since teams have their bigs that can shoot at the top. It’s a no brainer and Spo has no vision.

With Denver an over the tax team and MPJ making 13 million less there’s some hoops to climb in order to make it happen and once again saddles the books with too much salary. We are 6 million over the cap next year that needs to be cut or meet repeater. Something this franchise in it’s history has never done.
