I know this changes nothing and it has already happened, but I can't help but wonder if Charlotte unintentionally screwed us by drafting Miller. If Charlotte had drafted Scoot and Portland had taken Miller would Portland be okay with brining back Herro in a trade?

It's a fair consideration. I would be more concerned about Cronin eyeing Maxey in that scenario, since that would be a better fit with Simons. I still think the Herro/Simons fit is defensively a mess with genuine playmaker or drive and kick. Fit with Maxey and Scoot is clunky and way too small.

If anything it looks like Charlotte may have screwed themselves out of an elite backcourt that actually fits on paper

That was before they signed FA Brisssett and Banton for around 4.18 million in salaries whichs leaving them with only 2 more spots to fill. There roster at 13 players leaved them with only 3.3 million salary left before hitting the 2 apron.

Herro was alwasy going to be redundant in Portland because he and Simons play the same position.

All reports have said Riley has been fair with Portland, and gave them a fair offer that makes sense for both teams, even if they don't like Herro, he's worth at least a FRP. Didn't try to fleece them off the go, which could have pissed them off to never trade him to us.

Much of what we've been able to experience as fans over the last 20 some odd years can be attributed to Riley and the culture he's built. We struck gold in the 03 draft and continue to reap the benefits of getting lucky, but most franchises need and benefit from that same kind of luck at some point..MJ in Chicago, Steph in GS, etc. Be grateful ppl
