Not sure probably can offer him more if we drop Hammond. I think. But I'd take Rose just because it would hilarious when we play the Bulls.

You cannot add money to the exception. You can split it between players but you cannot add to it.

Also, I'm going to keep saying this about TJ's contract and hope somehow it gets in. Those of you who are trading him to reduce our cap space... well, it's just silly. We're not going to be beneath the salary cap anymore. You don't have space to sign free agents. All you can do is trade. That means TJ (even on his ballooning contract) is better to have than not, unless of course you are concerned about Mickey's tax payments (which I am not.)

Because we went 30-11 the 2nd half of the season, finished with the 5th ranked defense and had the 10th best net rating, and we're better than half the teams who made the playoffs in our conference. Plus, we got better this off season while the conference got much weaker.

What else could this team realistically done besides sign Hayward? Literally nothing lol.

Plus this team is fun as hell. Who cares if we won't win a title or make it to the finals. I just want a good, fun team for now.

dear pizza this team not making the playoffs and making noise doesnt sound like fun to me. you know i could very well be wrong but we are going to be a lotto team for years to come because basically no major FA wants to come here and i blame lebron, wade and riley himself for this team predicament

Yeah, well in my opinion, he wasn't very good even before his achilles tear, but I'm sure he'll ball for the Spurs. They do that there.

Crazy how deep we are now. Just need a few more tweaks. A vet SF would be nice and a third emergency PG. With how big and agile the front court is we can get away with playing three guard lineups with McGruder, and J Rich rotating at SF from the bench.

McGruder at 6-5 and JRich at 6-6 cannot guard the top SFs of this league all strong, athletic and over 6-8

Winslow cannot stay on the floor thabks to the TonyAllen-esk shooting

Mcgruder annoyed the crap out of Paul George last year due to his defense. Plus, with JJ now able to play more SF and Winslow (hopefully) coming back, that is 4 guys the Heat can throw at a player like Lebron or Hayward. Add in to that strong post defense and you will have some fatigued opponents.

This isn't to say the Heat will be able to beat a team like Cleveland or Boston in a 7 game series, but contenders aren't usually built overnight. It's all about the right moves with the big picture in mind.

Let's see what happens.

Idk, like Deng, JJ played better at PF where we could take advantage of his speed & versatility, Justice just killed any spacing and was dared to shoot bricks everytime he had the ball.

McGruder might have had his lucky day against PG, but he does not have the lenght and strenght to defend Lebron, Burant, Hayward, Leonard etc

I just see that we are just weak at sf in a league dominated by SFs. Not asking for an All-star or anything like that, just a decent sf with good size, versatility, athletitism

AJ Hammons, our backup C prospect, should be on that list, right? We will try to develop him. I liked him at Purdue, fwiw. Good on the glass and a decent blocker (2.5 per game his last season.) Tough mf.

Hey GOM. Just the person i needed. I was going back and forth with Albert on twitter in regards to renegotiating TJ's contract in the final year. He mentioned it has to be for more than what he's making now and we have to have the cap space in order to do it. I asked him what the starting figure we are working with. Is it the original 5.6? the spread out 12? or the 19. He never responded. Would you happen to know?

It's easy. We will owe Tyler $19M at the end of the third season of his contract. Any contract with a value greater than $19M is legal.

2/20 would be legal, but very unlikely. I would expect something like 4/50 or 4/60 depending on his performance over the next two years.

In any case... and this is really important. Barring unforeseen circumstances, we are not getting under the salary cap again for a while. That means we'll have the MLE (hopefully NT) and resignings of our own players until about 2020. So Tyler's contract is only important for tax purposes and we're not in danger of having repeater consequences for a long time either.

Whale hunting season has ended for now at least in free agency.
