Sure its unlikely but if that's his decision then its a 100% certainty that he won't be moved and spends the rest of his career watching from home come June. If Paul wants to be stubborn and think he deserves an unprecedented $44mil at age 37 then that's up to him.
It really doesn't matter to Miami if he wants to keep his money. But by all indications and how quickly CP3 and his agent are trying to get him out of OKC I wouldn't be surprised if he comes back to reality and decides to take a two year 6mil per room exception in 2021 to get moved to Miami.
Most realistic, he plays great and gets traded for or year three of his deal he works on a buy out and plays for a contender. The idea of leaving 40+ mil is beyond stupid. Wade left the Heat when we didnt want to pay him market value. This is a business first and foremost not some family, i fully expect him to keep his 40+ mil and get a buyout in the last year.
Heck lets be realistic here. Even if he gives up 40+ mil we would still not be the favorites to make it out of the East. Yeah unless he is getting financial advice from Anthony Cater and Sprewel, even then lol they would tell him to keep the money.
Chris Paul is earning waaaay beyond his market value to end his career. Its more stupid to think a franchise is going to buyout a $44mil contract. I'll be surprised if any other team trades for Paul. Even we arent really interested and we were one of two teams showing interest in Westbrook.
