Saucee nuggets time...!!! got on the phone this morning and got a few tidbits.

1. things are moving slow right now as most of the people around the league in the executive roles are on vacation with their family's.
Don't expect any big decisions to be made until after this next upcoming week when some of the teams top exec's start to get back to the grind of the team season once again.
2. Miami reached back out to Brooklyn team on Friday to see if there is anything imminent there or if they are moving in a different direction. Their response is that they are still mulling over all the offers presently on their side. Teams have given their best offer to date and there's been very little response to increasing an offer from anyone around the league, including Miami. "I asked about if we would get trumped by GSW offer". He said the only way the team knows whos all been involved in trades is through negotiation when they bring up the team and offer for Miami to one up the current best standing offer, the case is that has not been the case with anything GSW, so he would guess that they have not offered anything. The only good news is unlike the Utah jazz, who came out and said we were out of the running for Donovan, since they felt we could not offer anything based on the players available to which none of them would entice them, additionally the picks were also on the low side so they have completely told us to go away.
3. Additionally the feeling amongst the executives is there's a greater chance Utah roles into next season with Donovan than Brooklyn with Durant. Durant has began to express distain for remaining although not leaked to the league yet there's was some players talking about him just getting through a internal meeting last week with the GM prior to him leaving on vacation and it was sour. Also there are rumblings of increased deals sent to Brooklyn's side for Kyrie, deals they previously didn't have a few weeks ago, so there's a buyers market right now for him with a few teams. Although Miami remains confident until Durant is traded, they will not Deal Kyrie as that will put them up against a wall and drop Durant's price farther. Miami will remain committed to chasing Durant as they feel rather confident to land him.
4. Until the Durant chase ends, we are locked and committed to the chase, do not expect any deals revolving anything else we have unless those deals are seen not to affect what's we can offer.
5. "I asked about how real the possibility of Caleb to be playing the PF come next year" He said very big either as starter or Bench player but its looking that way, he knows the Miami heat staff has Caleb on a weight regimen program to bulk up listed on the development board, he also listed under the player development team that handles training for front court players.
6. "I asked about Bam training as well" He said Bam was taken off the development board this offseason from internal team development and assigned a 5* training team outside the team organization focused on high post scoring, ball handling, shooting, and post passing.
7. "I asked about Herro Extension" He said he didn't know anything about it nor heard whispers of what they are doing for his extension, all quiet on that front.

Haha never--I like having optionality to use Caleb as a PF. Especially with regards to Miami's defensive scheme and having Caleb step up as the guy taking on the responsibility of full court defense with Tucker's departure. But we're definitely stretching ourselves too thin if we are full time dependent on a power rotation of Caleb and Bam.

Ideally Caleb can serve as our main utility player off the bench--able to fill in at any spot 2-4.

All the other news is a lot more important to me than the Caleb piece.

So...

Caleb has a 6'10" wingspan had a block% of 2.3 (Bam's was 2.5) despite playing 78% of his mins at SF and SG, so he does seem to have some potential as a weakside secondary rim protector. Let's not forget that Wade with his 6'11" wingspan was essentially our primary rim protector during the Heatles era (there's an old espn article which I can't find right now that quotes Spo telling Bosh to focus on boxing out and let Dwyane protect the rim)

I’m warming up to the idea of the winner of Caleb/high smith/days starting at pf as a pj replacement ONLY if herro starts. We will need berros offense to compensate and keep Dipo/strus and Robinson off the bench

That’s what it looks like.

Very deep team, can be great IF herro takes that leap

Now I think either before season or at the deadline we should really do what we can to move Duncan and a 1st or 2 for an upgrade at pf because as is Duncan is out of the rotation and just a waste of 15 mil dollars. If that’s not possible then put Duncan in rotation and move strus for a starting pf on a rookie deal. Remember strus is going to get PAID next offseason and we really can’t afford big money for him, Dipo, herro and Robinson next off season

I’m counting on a leap from herro esp if we start him, no reason he can’t be Devin bookeresque, he’s on the same trajectory

Hawks already told us to move on

No they didn’t. ICC’s second to last update said they reached back out to us on Collins.

maybe we should put Duncan at the 4 for spot minutes. he will still get picked on by the opposing team but now we can tire out the other teams big with DR just running around looking to get open

Ha, I love Jimmy as a player as he is, now if he adds that shot at an upper 30s, will be scary, just don’t fall in love with it too much that would take away from his other game.

Let Herro earn the starting role by beating out Oladipo and Strus in camp, I don't like just saying it's his.

I remember Battier saying it took him a bit to realize that Wade was like a big with the help defense. He said something like at first he didn't want to funnel opposing players towards him but then realized that was part of the defensive plan and Wade was capable lol.
