Mitchell anywhere near 9 mil a year is a value signing.
His career numbers say NBA minimum. Even earlier this season he looked like a minimum player. We need to stop making this mistake over and over and over again. A guy is not his best stretch of basketball. A guy is his typical stretch of basketball.
Hopefully Pat recognizes that Mitchell is Vincent 2.0 and lets him walk.
I have to disagree, Davion and Gabe aren't close.
- Davion is a significantly better defender: stronger, more physical, and forces far more turnovers, there is a reason he was a lottery pick and Gabe went undrafted
- He's also a better playmaker. The team tried to mold Gabe into a PG, but he never was. He often took questionable shots, while Davion is that, can handle the ball efficiently, plays within the flow, and fits better alongside stars
- Davion attacks the rim! 35% of his shots come within 5 feet and he finishes at a solid 58.7%. Gabe was never that aggressive, with a rim frequency under 15%
- Over the past two seasons, Davion has shot 38.2% from three. I wouldn’t put too much weight on his rookie and sophomore seasons, even something like 36% is good enough
He’s exactly the kind of guard you want next to your stars, defends at a high level, hits open 3s, and doesn’t force things, you need those cheaper high level role players who support the stars on the team, can't win without them. No doubt this is a must resign for the Heat, I'd be shocked if they blunder this.
