Luka and Bam are an amazing pairing and like you said Timmy, a pair made in heaven!

Also, could you imagine Kaspar learning under a motivated Luka…

How about a Luka in Heat shape!?!

All about this sounds like a match made in heaven, but given it has been 15 years since we last had something like this happen, I already fir disappointment as well.

You’re dreamin’ bro.

Even if Luka by some weird reason leaves lakers, seriously doubt heat is his top priority. Free agency is done done in the NBA either way

I am dreaming… but one could only hope. I was also told the same in early 2010 when I was saying that we would have the $$$ for Wade/James/Bosh. So many dismissed it, but I stuck with the notion that we would have the opportunity and that is what Riley was gunning for. So, maybe that experience has me with a false sense of hope that I again see something in the air… but then again, Giannis a few years ago definitely damaged the blind hope. I get it, it’s more of a pipe dream than anything, but something has this FO hyper focused on clearing the books.

They want Wiggins to succeed this year so he opts out as well… while also becoming a good trade chip at deadline. Everything they are doing is with the notion of summer 2026… and that obsession is more than just getting under the tax… they want to do something with that $$$.

We will see if Luka extends… at which point that dream is obviously dead. Until then, I smell something.

Nah… it made sense back then when we had the literal scoring leader and perennial mvp candidate in d Wade. Nowadays we got Bum and white boy Herro who thinks he deserves a 50 million per year salary. This is a cooked ass build that is never going anywhere about time we get hit with a reality check

Last season’s Butler drama took a ton out of everyone I feel like and there are multiple players either in contract years or in good spots to have bounce back years (Bam/Powell/Rozier/Jaquez. East is awful, heat never tank and Spolestra is still the best coach in basketball.

I put the house on them getting 37+ wins but wana put even more. Anything big im missing here that should have me hold off :)?

I'd say go look at Pat Riley's last big press conference where he said Miami Heat have only tanked twice, and they never said they were tanking those times, but they were. And that they expect to compete. Zoom in and check if he winked at any point, because it's got me wondering if there wasn't a message in that in which we are gonna tank this year.

I think if this LeBron thing is all smoke and no fire, this could very well be a tank year. I know Powell seems like a win now move, but it could just as easily be another piece to potentially squeeze a draft pick out of a team at the deadline who wants him. He's positive value and we gave up nothing for him.

I should state I don't necessarily think we are tanking, just giving someone with a wad of cash who may not sit there listening to every piece of news and interview enough pause to consider whether to better money on the Heat.

I haven't done my 25-26 prediction because of it. I see a team that got be a 2-3 seed in the East or playing for a top 4 pick with some luck (Heat would struggle to get worse than say 6th worst record unless Bam is out all season).

I'm inclined to be optimistic. They blew 20 double digit leads to lose games, and 18 games where they held 4th quarter leads, mostly due to a lack of offense generation that Powell should help fix. I don't think Jimmy contributed much to their success, they were a <.500 team when he played, had very few spectacular wins (I think there were 2 wins vs good teams, Cavs and Lakers). They missed Wiggins a bit and dealt with him coming back from injury while trying to integrate him, did all they could to recover Terry Rozier's trade value by playing him while extremely unproductive and disruptive. All of the players and coach were mentally drained by the Jimmy saga. Noone got to do a training camp or plan for a team without Jimmy with Herro as the 1 or 1A. Bam had a half season slump before his offense jumped into gear. They got previous little out of Ware in the first half. Almost every player on the roster is young now, in that they should ALL improve from last year (Powell the only guy over 30).

https://heatnation.com/videos/luka-doncic-reportedly-had-his-eye-on-miami-and-loved-heat-franchise-it-was-always-lakers-and-heat/

Kevin O'Connor did report Luka's affinity for Miami franchise and city back in February, with the Lakers and Heat as the two teams he would consider if he ever lost Dallas.

I also think it is a pipe dream in some ways but there is no denying the Heat roster is pretty much built with a hole in the middle where you would slot Luka. His supporting cast is already set. Need the power of Gogi.

I hope he is somehow unhappy with how he was poached by the Lakers, and wants to be in control of his own destiny and decide for himself which team to play for long term. If that is the route he goes, then I like our chances as the most likely team to convince him to leave the Lakers.

Damn lol literally just wanted to be with his family at this point instead of competing for a championship, can’t fault a guy for doing what makes him happy.

BUT, is this where he finishes it out or was this a way for him to stay with his family while he rehabs and then work with Portland again to trade him next summer on an affordable deal?

My guess is he finishes it out in Portland but who knows

Wanted his family and teams weren’t cool with him rehabbing in Portland as opposed with the team, good for him

He’s retiring in Portland. They will probably be looking to trade Holliday.

Brother got slighted by them when he asked to go to a team he wanted, and then first chance he gets, crawls right back.

At least he got a no trade clause out of it.

NTC to me just says he has the power to go wherever he wants next time around lol I agree though he likely stays and retires there. I’m not sure he’ll even be good any more post Achilles tear, he was a low risk high reward guy for everyone trying to get him
