When I'll have some free time I want to breakdown all the teams in East, their offseason and see exactly how we stack up.

For now I'll just say that at first look, the only teams I feel we really should be better then are :

Wizards
Nets
Philly
Maybe Bulls
Maybe Magic

In think our range is 10-13. Meaning playoffs are long shot. Meaning drafting high should be a priority.

Winslow on the other hand might need to amp up that midrange game just to give him something to work with offensively, I don't care if he turns into Derozan-Harden lite(Probably more likely than Kawhi, I'd be happy with Derozan-lite tbh) but I'm interested in how creative higher usage Winslow will get and if higher usage Tj is still a badass

I'm stealing Laimbber's really fun question, wondering what yall think. It really made me think :

Laimbeer wrote:The commish has found your franchise wronged and is offering compensatory draft picks, beginning in five years. He offers these packages - which do you prefer? Your team's record in these seasons has no bearing on the pick(s) and you are a young owner who intends to keep the team for life. You cannot trade the picks and must keep the player(s) at least through their rookie contract.

1 - First overall in 2021
2 - Second overall in 2021, 2022
3 - Third overall in 2021, 2022, 2023
etc., up through
10 - Tenth overall 2021 through 2030

Im leaning towards 2 picks of #2 or 3 picks of #3. Just to spread the risk of a bust, and also in a lot of drafts the #1-#2 debate is really a toss up.

I doubt that we are better than Wizards. Bulls, Magic, Heat, Kniks, Bucks, Wizards, Charlotte and Atlanta are on the same tier, right now.

3 number 3 picks. If you look through the nba lottery pick history i think one can conclude that the number 2 pick isnt much greater than the number 3 picks overall (if at all)

My attempt at a speculative playing time rotation sans Bosh...

C - Whiteside / Reed
PF- Winslow / Babbitt / Williams
SF- Richardson / Babbitt / Johnson
SG - Johnson / Waiters / Ellington
PG - Dragic / Weber

Uptempo, using Whiteside as a defensive anchor and surrounding him with shooters. As for subbing, you can put in Babbit for more shooting and Williams/Johnson for a little defense/athleticism (still small-ball) up front with the speed game. It will be a versatile team with Rich also playing PG and a lot of tweeners at the 3 and 4s. Hopefully Winslow has been shooting nonstop this summer to get his J right. McRoberts familiarity w the system and versatility is a variable for playing time. Weber will be a defensive specialist at the 1.

Wizards won 41 games last year while being one of the most injured teams in the league.

I expect them to win 45+ games this year. We aren't better.

With no Bosh this is how I see our rotation looking

PG: Dragic
SG: Richardson
SF: Winslow
PF: Williams (I really like Williams, and think of everybody we have signed he has the most upside. This is a guy who is not far from being a really solid player in this league. He has all the tools, he just needs to improve his focus and shooting. Two things our coaching staff has shown to be able to do. I think he has the thickness to play at the 4 and he won't muddy the water for Whiteside inside, as I think Whiteside works better when he is not played next to another inside player.)
C: Whiteside

Role Players
Johnson: He will get 25-30 minutes a night splitting time between the 1 and two spots, he will be used as a swiss army knife type back-court player, capable of both running the offense and distributing from the point
Waiters: Dion will be used the way we inteded Gerald Green to be used. He will enter somewhere towards the end of the first quarter with the 2nd unit and basically be given a complete green light. Depending on how he starts off will determine his minutes for the night.
Reed: On the floor every minute Whiteside is not
Babbit: Stretch 4 used when we want ultimate spacing
Mcroberts: Will be used as a stretch 5 and will part of Spo's wet dream of an all lefty lineup
Ellington: Floor spacer who can be used as a microwave scorer off the bench
Webber: Will probably get some more burn in D-League he will step up should one of our guards go down, will continue to be developed, might be useful in some defensive situations.
James Johnson: Vet to be used in a reserve role
Haslem: Vet to be used in reserve role, also put in during rough stretches to inject energy and intensity

Bulls and Wizard probably better, not sure about that. But 76ers  C'mon, gom. We aren't that bad, even without Bosh.

Can't imagine Babbit or JJohnson getting minutes over McBob and or Williams... In thee event of Bosh. They both can get minutes at the 3, depends on whether or not Rich will play the it behind Winslow. Rich at the 3 could really open some things up for us, just depends on whether or not him and the team buy into that

Oh I hope you're right gom gom. We need a top 5 pick. Markelle Fultz will be available at #2.

Come on! We're not THAT lousy. Worst case scenario ... this team should win ~ 35 games even if Bosh doesn't play.

If word from a party close to that situation was correct, the Heat quite literally could not even give McRoberts away, that no outside team wanted to take on his salary-cap hits that include a player option for 2017-18.

Very well said, solid support of your proposed lineup. I'm anxious to see Winslow, Richardson and Williams this season.

I don't know, contract. I'm very worried about our young players getting minutes now. Nothing Riley is doing makes any sense to me this offseason.
