Teams with better chances at signing him plus better for Giannis is Warriors, Mavs. Jimmy will be too old by then. As opposed to signing with perfect fit Curry/Klay or the much younger duo Luka/KP.
Signing Giannis is a pipe dream, almost as bad as thinking we had a shot at KD with an aging Wade. Not gonna happen imo. Which is why I think Riley goes for it now before the next super team is formed and we are all left in the dust.
Curry Klay Green Giannis is literally game over
Luka KP Giannis is also too much to handle.
Giannis Jimmy is not a great fit, no shooting, and age difference too big.
Giannis to Heat is a miracle pipe dream. And we are never going to have higher value on our guys than we do right now.
Right now Nunn, Herro, Bam, DJJ, DRob all have their value through the roof. NOW is the time to cash in.
We had a meeting with KD that summer despite being in a faaar worse position that summer with Bosh's last playing season being 2015-2016 and KD signed in 2016, Wade was 35yo and had a bad injury history which is completely different compared to a healthy aging Butler who will be 31yo. Once Giannis' next contract finishes Butler won't even be as old as Wade was when KD signed.
GS aren't in a position for Giannis and why would Giannis want to do what KD just did and regretted? Also Luka is going to be his competition going forward, even right now they are competing for MVP so I doubt Giannis will want to join him. Our biggest competition for signing him is him staying loyal to Milwaukee. I can live with not making a move this season, seeing how we do as constructed and come back to this type of decision once Giannis decides on his extension. If Milwaukee is off the table though we need to at least try and get him.
I don't agree that those guys have maximized their value. Bam and Herro will definitely get better, DJJr with more playing time all season will increase his value, Nunn and Robinson may have reached their plateau but they aren't decreasing in value anytime soon. On top of that JJ, Olynyk and Waiters become expiring contracts next season which would increase the value of any package where we include any of our smaller contract players so for that reason alone its probably better to wait for a deal. Plus we will also have a better idea what guys like Okpala and our 2020 FRP can contribute to our team and who could become more expendable.
