Great to see some Heat basketball back. Honestly, I felt like this was one of the quicker offseasons. Or perhaps I was just too busy with family commitments to really miss basketball. But I'm glad it's back.

I really like what I'm hearing from Herro. Sounds like he's been humbled over the last 12 months and is now ready to just head down, bum up and get on with playing ball. I think/hope Spo also sees how we can use him better perhaps, and put him in more positions to succeed. He is talented and can score the rock, but if we could get his efficiency up by taking more catch and shoot opportunities and less off the dribble pull-ups, he can become a key ingredient for us going forward.
Biggest thing with Tyler will also be getting his body right, stronger and not being a complete liability on defense. If Duncan can improve on that end, so can Tyler.
Really excited to see what Niko and Jaime can bring this season.

Isn’t that how Rozier got hurt?

Glad the truth has come to light that Spo wasn’t letting Bam shoot 3s, some fans swore up and down he was just scared to shoot them and not aggressive

As we get closer to the preseason, early indication the Heat inclined to start off with the Terro, Butler, Jovic and Bam starting five until it fails, making Jaime the 6th man and like the closing power forward.
However a unit I hopefully gets a strong run is Larsson, Herro, Robinson, Johnson and Ware at least in the preseason.

I'm getting optimistic about the Rozier/Herro/Butler/*/Bam lineup. I know the defense may be problematic, but I am really curious to see the Herro/Rozier pairing running at top speed. if they can bring average defense with great offense, that might lift our offense out of the basement. Especially with a guy like Haywood or Ware next to Bam to cover up for them.

I had to take a look back at the 2019-20 season, because I felt I remember that offense being really good and blowing a lot of teams out in the first half of games
Regular Season 1st Half of games OffRtg and DefRtg by year
2023-24 OffRtg/DefRtg, Net = 114.7/110.4, +4.4
2022-23 OffRtg/DefRtg, Net = 114.4/114.0, +0.4
2021-22 OffRtg/DefRtg, Net = 114.8/109.2, +5.7
2020-21 OffRtg/DefRtg, Net = 112.0/111.2, +0.8
2019-20 OffRtg/DefRtg, Net = 115.6/108.0, +7.6
(Butler - Nunn - Robinson - Bam - Leonard in the 1st half of the regular season OffRtg/DefRtg, Net 130.1/100.8, +29.4 with 255 mins of play)

If we lower expectations for the team, I think we will be in for a Surprise... they play Pretty good ... Maybe not championship good...
But they might make us pretty happy!

feels like Dragic driving the second unit was a big part of this too

The only good part of this season will be Dywane Wade's statue unveiling on October 27, 2024. Got my tickets today, can't wait to go!
Unlike DWade, the current players on this team are overpaid charlatans who need to STFU and prove their worth. They spend half the regular season on the bench, drags us to the play-in, and then miss games in the postseason.

The problem here is neither Herro nor Terry have been above average offensive guards basically their whole career.
Gotta hope for a leap from Herro. Rozier was good as a playmaker so maybe there is a small chance it works, but I honestly don't have too much hope, many things have to go right.
It's the same team as last few years in terms of talent, don't be surprised if they land in the playin again

That Terro thing is funny now, but I have a feeling it won't be so funny in a couple of months.
But it's funny now.

You are right, let’s pivot to the other broken record of Bam potentially finally shootings threes on the regular! This is how you know we are in desperate need of a splash trade!!! We continue to have the same pre-season hopes and prayers!
Maybe this is the year Tyler actually gets it together, and Bam shoots threes at a good clip with decent success! Imagine how much success our offense will have with those two finally coming to fruition this season! I can picture it now, the Bam and Herro duo creating havoc on offenses!
I think what he's pointing towards is a player changing their tendencies on offense which is very hard to do even if you want to do that. To go to someone who probes for his own shot which he's done for most of his life that not only got him to the NBA but made him rich to being mostly a spot-up shooter is quite the change. You can try to force yourself, but it won't feel natural, you won't be doing it feels right and from time to time your old tendencies will take over. The same goes for Bam and even Butler, the way they've played have made them NBA all-stars, both have been all-NBA players, both were the top 2 guys for a finals team so to change how they play, and their tendencies are just as difficult if not more so.
Can Herro push himself for a certain role, absolutely but I think you'll see him deviate from that from time to time that could cause issues, it'll probably take a good amount of time before his old tendencies change which will show up more often in pressure situations until he's changed his current tendencies (which sounds like what he's been working on).
Klay Thompson isn't who Herro should be emulating because they were never the same type of player (especially on defense), he should be emulating Ray Allen.Spoiler:
Tyler Herro would be out for 6 months with a hernia if he tried to pick up Ray Allen's jock.
