Leverage for what? Knicks have cleared the space. Mavs want him back. He already has his bidding war. What would a team with no cap space add to the proceedings? Does he want a piece of the team? His dad gets a raise from the Knicks?

This is about avoiding tampering or he wants to know if the Heat would trade Lowry and make him the starting PG. Jimmy let the Heat know he wanted to be in Miami when the Rockets were the perceived favorites and then the Heat moved heaven and earth to get it to happen. Brunson would have to give the Heat the word and they would make it happen again.

It’s possible the Brunson team spoke with Dallas management and they straight up said if you want to leave we’ll take Lowry back in a S&T if he chooses us. Just a hypothetical to make sense of it all.

ding ding ding

Leak Heat interest then sign Knicks day 1 to make it seems the rumors were spread out

Now we're talking about a real meeting then. One where the Heat can show Brunson their vision for him as the PG playing with Jimmy and Bam. Gotta believe Spo's scheme is gonna get him more excited than playing 40 minutes a night for Thibs and being exhausted by mid April. But family connections with the Knicks are still the favorites.

Then you have to ask yourself why Riley and Spo would allow it? You're pissing off your current PG all to be used by Jalen Brunson of all people. Not like he's a superstar where you take the meeting no matter what.

While seemingly unlikely it would be crazy to have an offseason that moves Lowry and Duncan to other team and the Heat end up with Brunson and Collins as additions to the team. That definitely puts the time line back with Herro and Bam rather than Jimmy, but it also would be a really competitive team that would provide Jimmy a lot more offensive support.

Just for visualization purposes, Brunson actually goes straight up for lowry and duncan w/ yurt and a pick or two net collins. That creates enough talent on the roster that the Heat could then focus on small piece additions for the next couple years.

Brunson and Collins are both young enough to fit with Bam and Herro, and mature enough to help Butler and co. compete now. That'd be a talent upgrade for sure.

More realistically, we're probably getting neither and need to go shopping in the bargain bin.

So many names get thrown around that it all becomes a nonsensical cluster ****! These “insiders” on Twitter are literally the spam ads of this forum.

Maybe i didn’t choose my words well with the leveraging but yes i do think it’s a real meeting and it’s nice to have another option and a possible agreement with Dallas that they are interested in Lowry if he by passes NY. Riley can sell so i’m sure the Knicks can’t be feeling so great about the meeting. Mavs hold all the cards for us to get him if he does indeed choose us. In the end as others have mentioned could be a smoke screen to throw off tampering charges but maybe Mavs intentions of S&T are real. Early reports had Knicks in on Murray but that was probably put out as a smokescreen. In the end still have Knicks as the favs with Pat Riley selling the franchise to a young player who may decide to circle back to them in the future.

We're getting neither Brunson nor Collins. Our hopes should be pinned on Sacramento at this point and extracting Barnes and/or Holmes from them

I've been on Heat Twitter for a decade but never here. Is the track record with scoops here about the same?

Jimmy Butler should never be a GM, I see why they compare him to Michael Jordan

Cultivate a relationship with Brunson's agent. Not sure who else he reps but it's always good to develop amicable relationships with agents. We clearly have a contentious relationship with Klutch and that's only been limiting for us

It’s pretty much the same except the scoops are discussed more in depth in here whether they truly make sense or not.
