Barnes may be off the table now since Sac got their shooter, they also dont make sense as the third team in a Collins deal. Riley and Andy must have some conviction about the offers they’ve made.

He knows he'd be expected to actually play defense as Miami's starting PF

Who cares tho Gallo is washed and I'd be surprised if we had any real interest in him

Thats not going to be enough picks for Danny Ainge. He'd want multiple 1st rounders and multiple swaps kinda like the Davis deal. I don't think he'd care for Herro. You would need to find a 3rd team that would take Herro to send extra picks to Jazz. And if we get to a bidding war with a team like NO, we'd probably loose

Didn’t Danny Ainge fully intend to draft Herro if Miami hadn’t?

Yes, I've heard it in podcasts and found it here...

On NBA draft night last year there was a collective moan among the Boston Celtics brass right about the time the Miami Heat used the No. 13 pick to select Tyler Herro.

The Celtics were very much enamored with the 20-year-old leading up to last June’s draft.

That was a couple years ago. Herro is one year away from getting paid. He's not a guy you add to rebuild. You add him when you already have a franchise player and need a 2nd or 3rd option.
The point of blowing it up its to get in the lottery and get a Zion or Tatum. You don't want to take back pieces that would make you mediocre. For the Nets it makes sense to take Herro because they don't own their picks, so there's no value in completely bottoming out. For Jazz the rumors are true they'd want to bottom out and go in the tank for the next 3 years

They dumped Huerter. Sacramento got a nice player on the cheap

Didn’t Sac give up a 1st round pick? Not a bargain imo. Good for ATL

it makes too much sense. Paul Millsap is 37 and averaged 3.5 ppg and can't shoot the 3 and has no upside

sometimes you don't wanna go for the best available option but go for the low hanging fruit for the win

Yakhouba is big enough to play the 4 in Spo's system and he's not even 40 years old yet. I'd offer him something like $30/3 with 3rd year being a team option

They could easily tank with Herro and his cost, why would they care while tanking, no matter what Utah does have to spend 90% of the cap each year or that extra money goes to the current players on the roster. OKC is currently doing that with SGA.

You want to get high draft picks and also secure quality core pieces on value deals. If Ainge believes in Herro, he can have the opp to secure him on a reasonable deal (see Jaylen Brown deal). Herro can be a core piece for a rebuilding team at the right price and also not be the difference between competing and tanking.

Is there any chance that Miami could offer Melo a contract, they could have Butler reach out to him since they're so close.

They're not just acquiring quality, they're acquiring 2 way players.
