Bam Bam just so explosive. No longer can be pigeon holed as just a backup center or Tristan Thompson right Bish? :D

TT's also explosive, TT comparison wasn't/isn't a slight... I'm not sure why anyone sees it as a slight. Never called him a backup C

I just picture TT as just a lumbering center compared to Bam. Maybe i'm reading him wrong. Guess i'm just not that impressed with TT. Feel like he would be rendered useless without Lebron. His offense is put backs and a weak hook shot. He has a strong lower core witch allows him to be a good rebounder. Rarely see him block any shots. Good defender. Poor free throw shooter. I think TT is rock bottom floor for Bam. Maybe the eye test is deceiving me.

think it's wild to have TT as a floor for him but you never know how these things work out. I think you're underestimating TT but at the same time we're all guessing

But TT? Lol, not with that speed and handle.

It is summer league though. We'll have a better picture in preseason.

Look at the bright side, you only have to defend the TT comparison ......

Some posters have to defend comparing him to Joel Anthony

I think TT is a potentially good comparison for Bam defensively, but he has higher offensive upside IMO due largely to being more of an above the basket player

Kept pointing out there was a reason Riley and Spo were that giddy during Bam's introductory press conference. They could barely keep their hands off him... or the grins off their faces.

Tristan Thompson in college: 13.1ppg 7.8rpg 1.3apg 2.4bpg 30.7mpg

Bam Adebayo in college: 13.0ppg 8.0rpg 0.8apg 1.5bpg 30.1mpg

TT was the better shot blocker in college, both are 6'9" with long arms. Calling TT his rock bottom floor is insane! Absolutely insane Metta. I know it's not a sexy comparison but it's a solid one. I don't see Bam as a PF at all, I see him as a center with the ability to switch effortlessly like TT. He's a high energy offensive rebounder but hasn't been the defensive rebounder that he can be... like TT. He flashed a jump shot in workouts and looked very comfortable doing it, though then again even Hassan can hit open J's. Bam was a much better FT shooter than TT but was again only 65% from there.

If you set TT as the lowest you'll set your expectations for Bam, you that you will be disappointed, I'm telling you that right now.

Like I keep bringing up I was killed for comparing Justise to Iggy, people wanted Kawhi or Jimmy Butler... now something tells me they'd settle for Justise becoming Andre Roberson.

Time will tell but his floor is not Tristan Thompson, his floor is a backup energy big. Now as for his ceiling who know, it's up to him.

If you're emotionally stable, who cares if you end up being wrong or disappointed on expectations for Bam? Better yet, it doesn't have to be an expectation, just an exploration.

There are definite similarities between Bam and TT, especially with how they were used in college.

With that, the reality is bam is the taller (+1.5" in height), longer (+1.5" in wingspan), bigger (+16 pounds at time of draft and still weighs more than TT presently while being more vascular and having a frame to continue adding good weight), more explosive (+3" vertical) and clearly more athletic version of TT. I'm not even gonna go into the flashing of the jumpshot because we need to see more of that.

There is clear reason for optimism that, if developed right, he has all the tools to surpass TT as a player.

the problem is that most of us aren't emotionally stable when it comes to the Heat greg

that's what makes us "special" fans  i'm cautiously optimistic about Bam but I usually try not put too much expectations on rookies. like what 95% NBA draftees in each year don't become all-stars? I made that up but there should be some stats out there that show that our expectations should be tempered. I'm definitely excited about how he does against the big boys and hope that he'll have a long career with us :)

I was intially excited about getting Hammons because I remembered this highlight vid:

But I think this is a Stokes throw in type situation, where they'll keep him because his contract is guaranteed but he won't see the floor much at all. I heard he has gotten a reputation as lazy, perhaps the dogs in the locker room can change him with their no fake gym rats motto. His per 40 numbers were pretty ridiculous his senior year. Something like 23 pts 13 reb 4 blk iirc.

Otherwise, I'd be interested in seeing if they can move him for other prospects. Boston still needs some frontcourt depth and has a bunch of guys and not enough roster spots, so someone will shake loose. Would love to snag Ojeleye, but likely I see someone like Jordan Mickey being a casualty.

Here's a prospect who may shake free in the next few days, as his contract becomes guaranteed on July 15th. I've always been a believer in his shooting ability. He isn't having a great summer league, but played well at the end of the regular season and has improved dramatically as a passer, averaging 4.3 ast in summer league (6.4 per 36)

r/nba had a circle jerk about his guy. I love his story, they said he started out as a ballboy for his college team. Looks like a scrappy hustler

How do you guys think Chris Quinn is doing as HC??
Is it him or the players he has on this team?
Outside of the individual performances of White and Bam, this team looks terrible... inspite of a couple of close wins.
