Duncan turning in to a pumpkin really hurt.

Im sure the Heat were convinced theyd signed splash bro.

It's so wild that the cap has gone up and we are in year four of the deal and it's STILL an overpay for a 3pt specialist. Buddy Hield out here getting 11M. Clarkson 14M. Malik Monk, a better player, just signed an extension for four years at the same rate that Duncan got 3 years ago. And judging by caleb martin offer we clearly didn't learn our lesson. Saved by Caleb's agent and cba.

Needed to include a sweetener like Jovic which Mia likely would view to be an overpay

Therefore needed to pursue a bigger deal and try and improve in another area like PF/ wing and make an offer for Kuzma

And if there’s a belief that Herro and Kuzma wouldn’t be able to coexist, they would have to also throw him in the deal and take back Poole

Image

Per sign n trade rules this would need to be broken into 2 transactions but effectively one big deal

No way the Wiz touch that. They would just block our number, it's that bad.

The bigger problem for us, is the notion that Jovic would be a sweetener, he is up for his contract extension. What contract numbers is his market rate? Assuming Bam does become a full-time PF, where does that leave Jovic in basically a contract year?

I’ve been raising that question recently. The way the market has been functioning, it’s within reason to expect Jovic and his agent to seek out an offer close to or around his max extension which seems asinine at the moment. He’s gonna have to take a gigantic leap this season in order to validate the punitive cap implications that the offer would represent to the team.

Regarding Wash, they are actively trying to move Kuzma, are in danger of losing Tyus for nothing and I’d guess are less than happy with Poole. The offer isn’s unreasonable for them.

They are going with a youth movement anyways so they can afford to play Jovic 40 minutes a game and give him a good faith appraisal to determine his worth.

SoFlaKingReal wrote:Duncan contract sucks plain and simple. I believe the Front Office overvalued Duncan because of the importance of having efficient 3 point shooting/spacing on a team built around Jimmy/Bam. In theory, what Duncan brings to the table on offense is a perfect fit around Jimmy/Bam and the FO fell for it.

I think it was a combination of "best case scenario" Duncan Robinson mixed with if the Heat overpayed him to the amount they gave him that him plus Herro (once the extension kicked in) or him plus Lowry gets the salaries up to that 40 plus million dollar range in a trade for a star.

I would invest in a punching bag it will be the best purchase in your life for what you are about to experience going through the 2024-2025 NBA season with the Miami Heat. Trust me on this, your knuckles and wrist will thank you for it, keep the bag as close as you can to where youll be watching the games from.

That darn asset thing...

Wasn't it rumored that Miami had part of thee Lillard set up with Herro going to a 3rd team for 2 1sts? So let's go with Herro moved and Miami got 2 1sts.

Had Miami not sent out a 1st with Lowry for Rozier, you would have 1 more.

So, it would seem that it was possible Miami would have 3 more 1sts this summer, to go with the 1 it currently has and could have also drafted and traded the rights of their 1st round pick this year... for a grand total of 5 1sts this summer available to be moved.

Miami's FO likes their players way too much.

Imo,

Herro and Poole are a push

For this team, Tyus would be a far better fit than Rozier. And Bam and Ware would directly benefit from playing with more of a trad PG.

Kuzma is in his prime now and is on a reasonable contract for the next few years. Jovic gonna get paid soon and hasn’t played at the end of games and plays limited minutes in general.

And no one seems to want Duncan so that trash label isn’t one way traffic. (And I like Duncan and have defended him a bunch but his diminished value is undeniable)

Yes. He was point guarding it and sneaky slashing. Was awesome. Consistency is key though. We have a team full of inconsistency unfortunately.

It’s not like Duncan is a bad player. It’s just nobody wants to take on that contract without getting assets back. Sure you can dump his contract if we attach some seconds but then we are left with just one pick. Heat honestly get laughed at when they ask teams to give them the asset for Duncan. Probably like screw you enjoy paying tax while we get a free 11 million dollars from your contribution.
