That's highway robbery now. So glad we chose not to go all in for Lillard.
I think it's beyond stupid to say it would go down as one of the worst trades in history, even at the time of the tweet it reeked of a bias of Miami from a lifelong Celtics fan, it's why I dismiss O'Connor's opinions and only listen to the hearsay since he has interactions with teams.
One point nobody is talking about this trade is the ability to be productive in the playoffs... sorry, HIGHY productive in the playoffs and Lillard was once again highly productive in the playoffs last year without Ginnis putting up over 31 points a night while having a TS% over .61. If the main thing is championships, I think it wasn't giving up too much, even with how Herro is now because you may not have been in the play-in, Butler may not have gotten hurt and with Lillard, he was exactly what Miami needed for the playoffs. I still think Miami is going to see some real limitations with Herro in the playoffs if he's handling the ball so much and I'm not sure if he can overcome those limitations, maybe that's where Butler comes in to earn his money.

Re: 2024-25 Regular Season Thread Vol. 2
Herro has finally turned into the third star we need next to Bam and Butler. Sadly I think it happened too late. If we had this Herro in the bubble we might be talking about two more rings. We're in 7th now. But again, we get into the playoffs I'd be careful if I were other teams. If Herro's production holds through the playoffs or reaches another gear in the playoffs we can catch people off guard again. Niko is that dude, Spo just used him wrong and he also needed more development that he can only get with PT. And who would have ever thought that Ware would change things for us? An actual 7 footer makes the game easier for everyone. Who would have ever known?
If we can just manage to give Terry 0 minutes in the playoffs we might have a stronger supporting cast than in years past.

Sure, we all know Bam does all that. Some special players lift their team to the contending lvl just from their presence. Bam's just a good player. Plenty of good players on the lower half of the Association too

He doesn't need love or care. He needs new knees, new ankles, new shoulders, new calves and a new diet. Aside from the diet, no team can fix his body. He's just not built to survive a season. Trading for him is throwing assets away. It sucks but he's damaged goods

Without Herro's Offense, we're not even a play-in team, without Bam and his defense we're not even a play-in team. The only guy in question is Jimmy. When he turns it on in the playoffs, he is most certainly that mf'er. But it remains to be seen if he still has enough left to turn it up one more time. But 100% Herro and Bam are stars in this league, and while Bam has his warts offensively, everything else he does is exactly what you want from your third guy to get you over the finish line.

I agree with some of your points, but we’ll have to agree to disagree on the verbiage of “star”.
