I believe I read they turned down a 1st for him last year and multiple teams were checking in on his medical records this year. They probably saw this as their chance to unload JJ & Dion.

Pat will only spend the money if it’s for a whale that is worth it. If not he’ll re-sign as many of the current players to one year deals or anyone out in the league trying to prove they are worth money in FA 2021

Alright, had time to calm down on Winslow. I guess my best way to do this:
- If Winslow has this year and the next, then a team option year, then; if Winslow really won't play this season, then paying Iggy instead of Winslow is a positive for the first year of the three. We also have a glut between Butler, Dragic, Nunn, Herro, Duncan and even Derrick Jones Jr that are all arguably playing better than he has this year so it may have taken a long time for him to interject himself back into the lineup to prove himself in year 2 and justify the year 3. In year 3, Pat may be anticipating that unless he saw amazing growth, the preference was to not take the team option and go to FA in 21, so Iggy v Winslow is moot in year 3 most likely. That's the best I can do.

At least this trade really cleaned up our rotations for next year and gave us cap space to potentially bring back Leonard and Dragic for 1 year (at first) to keep the crew together. Not sure what we do with Jones Jr but if he'll take a 1 year then he'd be back too. Not sure we'd want to extend him longer
C - Meyers Leonard / Kelly Olynyk
PF - Bam Adebayo / Chris Silva / Derrick Jones Jr
SF - Duncan Robinson / Andre Iguadala / KZ Okpala
SG - Jimmy Butler / Tyler Herro
PG - Kendrick Nunn / Goran Dragic

I mean it’s not so bad. 3 guys that just collect money on the bench for 3 guys that actually play. Got under the tax. Doesn’t seem to affect 2021. Doesn’t really move the needle imo but still, got rid of 2 problem players and Justise who can’t seem to get healthy or improve. B trade for Pat. Doesn’t put us over the top or anything but we got some ready bodies to play, give Jimmy a damn breather.

I’m still holding out hope there is more to come. Riley hasn’t made a splash in a while.
