This Heat team feels super treadmill though. It’s hard to get excited for game day when there’s really not much to be excited about.

Every game largely the same - Jimmy passive until he needs to get going, Bam an afterthought, Gabe spamming more J’s than he has any right to, Lowry largely invisible, teams playing volleyball on the boards while the midget crew attempt to defend the post.

Our only promising prospects are either injured (Yurt) or deemed not ready (Jovic) by the Spotollah.

I dunno. I’m sour on it.

Yea that’s AirPs version of it, nba.con shows him as the worst impact player on the team by quite a bit based on ORTG DRTG and Net RTG

NBA.com uses the raw numbers when on the court, BBRef tries to extract what a player is actually doing and numbers can be quite skewed for roleplayers since they're only playing to their strengths.

Any idea what Dedmon's TS% is? Would you be surprised to know it's .678 and it's the highest by far on the team with Butler in 2nd at .603 and in 3rd, the guy everyone wants to trade... Lowry at .598, Tyler is doing better, he's 4th at .585 which is very good. The team overall is at .568 which is 20th in the NBA which means maybe... there's some players really pulling this team down offensively?

The guys pulling Miami down in TS%. (Last year's number)
Martin .503 (.603)
Vincent .504 (.551)
Robinson .506 (.573)
And those 3 players are averaging 24.2 shots per game at that horrific shooting numbers. Martin is playing out of position so that might be part of his issue, Vincent I have no idea, yet people want him replacing Lowry.

Back to Dedmon, he's not that mobile so him being out there with this 2nd team that usually has Vincent and Robinson in it, yeah, it's going to be bad for him since he doesn't shoot that much plus he's not mobile to cover up for a lot of this short lineup issues like Bam or another mobile center could. Dedmon absolutely sticks out like a sore thumb in this current roster which is why I mentioned FA WCS as a vet min player that could help cover up some of the size issues better then Dedmon.

Miami's decided to go with more offense this year and they're getting some horrible efficiency out of some main rotation players.

I’m excited just because I know there are moves to be made. Now if we don’t do anything by the deadline I’ll be screaming for Riley’s job. Especially if we’re fighting for the play in tourney just because we refuse to tank

The only issue is I watch how bad this team is when Dedmon is in the game and I see where he’s out of place and getting cooked at all times. There’s no good way to really determine that with the metrics but any metric saying he has a positive impact on this team definitely has its flaws.

I’m not saying 1 is better than the other but just stating that we know it’s not just the end all be all of discussion

Of course, when dealing with roleplayers they trend higher because they only play to their strengths vs core players who usually do much more and at a higher volume.

To me Vincent has been much more of a disappointment yet very little is said about him since he makes a few nice buckets, is a try-hard on defense but just hasn't been good to this point. What's kinda funny about that is that Vincent and Dedmon are a +2.4 pts per 100 in the 85 minutes they've played.

I'm advocating adding someone like WCS and he's not good, he just would be a good fit for this current roster. They need some type of mobile big man to backup Bam with Miami's munchkins.

Also, I'm not saying Dedmon is great but I think he's ok for a backup for a normal roster but he's not a good fit for the currently constructed roster, it needs a mobile big man.

Gabe’s had a horrible start, I think things will look better once his shot starts falling consistently

There’s a decent amount of bigs out there right now that could slide in for us imo

Hornets can score over Martin, and that’s when a 6’11” player makes it difficult. But ok Spo.

Adebayo looking strong so far. Good start.

Return to Miami Heat
