I don't understand why people are celebrating the Heat tanking when they won't benefit from it unless they get lucky with the ping pong balls.

The Heat are in their best draft position in over a decade, making this year the ideal time to pick rather than delay

- 26% Chance at top-4 pick, a real shot at a franchise player, with an all-star level talent likely even at #8
- Accelerates the build, drafting now gets a young player developing immediately instead of delaying progress
- Future draft position is uncertain, the Heat are unlikely to be worse in coming years, unless they blow it up, which is not what they usually do
- Pick must be paid to OKC anyway, better to use it now for maximum value, in a stacked draft, doesn't matter at all if it is unprotected next year, where they might not even finish in the lottery

This is the best opportunity Miami has had in years to secure an impact player, waiting makes no sense.
Of course, they won't tank on purpose, but I don't care about that I just want them to stack those losses, even if they don't intend to.
