TJ Ford doesn't work under Riley's midget policy. Chase was our best preseason guy and couldn't get the 15th man role. I don't like the odds of Riley relying on a guy 5'10 who gets posted up every time down the floor being a starter and taking 8 mill per to have.

Riley is pissing me off. We have sucked all season playing one style, and then he gets mad that we sucked playing another style. At least we didn't get kill that game.

And it was the first time really playing it, is going to take more than a couple times, to really get used to it. If ever.

Not that I'm trying to convince you, because we're happy with our dirty 1-guard rotation, but Ford is a nasty penetrator and a great distributor. When he's on the court (and it's admittedly an issue), he's a very good player.

He wouldn't be as good on Miami, though; Toronto's literally the best shooting team in the league and that helps a lot, especially because of our good ball movement and what-not. Now, if we only had a rebounder and a good iso wing scorer... :(

But yeah, Ford's a fine player if he has help and is healthy. Those are big ifs, though.

Don't get me wrong. I don't mind T.J Ford. But I'm pretty sure Riley does. I saw Ford play 1 game back in Milwaukee and every trip up the floor defensively he got posted up and it was a real weakness. I've heard he's improved his defense since then, but height issues will always be height issues.

I've always wanted a team of size. I always figured that Detroit in the LB days was such a good defensive team because they were all long, big for their positions, had long wingspans and speed, not necessarily because they were the greatest mentally on defense, but that they could recover quickly from any lapse. Part of the reason I want Wade at PG. With a guy like Ford it's just the opposite. But I do respect the type of floor general he is and how he's been able to become a better scorer in the league than the liability he came in as.

Wade doesn't want to be a point guard and it's not conducive to long-term health... he's not a playmaker in the sense of a true PG, he's a drive-and-dish guy, which is a LOT different. You're talking Stephon Marbury versus Nash/Kidd, here. Not that I mean to say Wade = Marbury, I mean ITO style of ball distribution.

You DON'T want him at point; primary ball-handler, sure, but you definitely want him as the off-guard.

Riley said he wants the guys to have fun and didn't sound too mad after tonight's loss. He will let them run, but you have to rebound, play D and protect the ball even if you play a more up tempo game.

Yea Marion is a monster on the boards.

When Haslem returns thats another good rebounder.

We will probably win about half our games in the next 32 IMO as long as everyone stays healthy and is trying to win.

I think that's more of an argument for "lets practice and get better at fast breaking" than "fast breaking is inherently ineffecient/we don't have the pieces to do it"

You can tell that Riles is having a HARD time adjusting to this "free running style" that allows the players to make more decisions on their own. Riley has always been a controlling coach and I wouldn't be surprised at all if he pulls the reins a little bit if we become sloppy.

By the same token, I have to say that I am impressed with the fact that he has embraced this idea even against his own beliefs. I don't know that he comes back and coaches next season but at least he has accepted that THIS is the future of the NBA.

The game last night was probably the most fun since Game 6 of the 2006 NBA Finals. We do need to become better defensively. We can't allow teams to score over 100ppg on us every night and hope to outscore them on the other end.

One more observation, Ricky Davis looked a bit more comfortable last night, however, we can't afford to have scoring droughts and they usually happen when JWill and Davis are on the court.

Hey everyone. I'm a Bucks fan, but I hate my team at the moment, so I've been enjoying other teams. One team is the Heat, because they are on national television quite a bit. Big fan of Dorell Wright...the next Tayshaun Prince.

Anyway, the guy who would be perfect for the 'Showtime' style, is Sergio Rodriguez up in Portland. Toronto will never let Calderon go, so Riley should probably look elsewhere. Rodriguez is an amazing fast break passer. They don't call him 'Spanish Chocolate' for nothing...

Another guy is Ben Wallace. Blount is killing you guys with his poor post defense. Wallace would bring it for Pat Riley. Davis and Williams expiring deals match, and Chicago would probably throw in Duhon as well. Wallace has 3 years left on his deal.

The way I see it, no one is going to take Blount, Haslem could be moved, but my guess is that Riley is going with a '3 year' plan. I think Marion will be extended to match the length of Blount, Haslem, and D-Wade's contract.

What would you guys think about a lineup of:

Rodriguez/Wade/Wright/Marion/Wallace...?

I like Rodriguez but I am not sure what would Portland want for him short of us taking Darius Miles off their books. I am not sure if he is worth all that.

As for Ben Wallace, maybe 3 years ago. I don't think he has it like before anymore to keep him on our books for the next 3 seasons. Plus, I am liking our players actually making their Free Throws now that Shaq and Toine are no longer with the team.
