Heat adding two players, Stephane Lasme is coming in addition to Ahearn. Lasme is signed first, Bobby Jones' contract expires after today, so it is not known if Ahearn is replacing Jones or if they are getting 2 exemptions to add to the roster in lieu of the injuries.

here is Lasme's nbadraft.net profile

NBA Comparison: Keon Clark (smaller)

Is Brian Chase on a D League team? Or is he out of basketball in the states altogether?

I actually wanted us to draft Lasme with our second when we took Stanko.

Sounds like Riley wants to bring back "tough" ball mentality back. We'll see what we get from this signing. I would be extremely happy if one of these young and inexperienced guys (Lasme, Jones, Anthony) develops into a rotation player in the next two years.

Earl Barron sucks!!

The Miami Heat announced today that they have signed forward Stephane Lasme to a 10-day contract. Per team policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Now another team will snatch him up and he will bite us in the ass when we become relevant again. If the Heat's plan is to give Gerald Green a 10-day instead of resigning Bobby I am going to go cry in the corner.

:banghead:

WTF seriously, this is BS.

You do realize that this is Bobby Jones we are talking about. If they like him, they can always sign him again in the offseason. May as well look at as many players as we can during the last month.

I think we all know the reason Bobby Jones was released. He was our top scorer and played well. Lets put an end to these shenanigans before he wins us a game.

But yeah, we could release half our players and pick them up next season. These guys are battling to stay out of the NBDL, they're not exactly in demand. It took the worst team in the league with injuries to their top 7 (Wade, Marion, Zo, Dorell, Haslem, J-Will, Banks) AND another NBDL type guy (Johnson) for these guys to even get on this team. No one else is snapping them up.

May as well get a look at other players in real NBA games. We know what Bobby is going to give us and can have him run in summer league if need be. We already have, from the sounds of Riley, 11 spots filled next year (Wade, Marion, Blount, Haslem, Banks, Wright, Cook, our first rounder, MLE, LLE and from the sounds of it, Zo) on our 08-09 roster, So we only have 4 spots between 7 guys on our roster now (Barron, Quinn, Johnson, Anthony, Lasme, Jones, Hearn) assuming we don't split the MLE or keep our second rounder.

These guys are worth a week to look at for a team in our position. 2 weeks is probably unneccessary.

I could see Bobby Jones coming back this summer. IMO, we need scoring (54pts the other night!!!!). Bobby Jones is more of a defender and Riles seems to know what he can get from him and where he needs work. I wouldn't be surprised if he sticks around town over the summer.

At this point, what is the incentive to keep them for more than two weeks, or even the rest of the season when they are going to become FA as well. We would only be showcasing them for other team's to steal him in the offseason. I thinnk we see a couple more guys before the season is done.
