Geez anyone read this Andy Katz article on ESPN?

"When he finally hears his name called, Beasley said he'll be relieved and might cry."

"'Mayo said he'd love to be "the butler to D-Wade's Batman and Shawn Marion's Robin.'"

""It wouldn't matter either way," said Rose about going No. 2.
That's a departure from when he said last Thursday in Chicago, that he would be disappointed if he didn't go to his hometown Bulls. ""

"Bayless said: "Hopefully they liked me enough to find a way to get me.""

Ira confirms that teams, including the Clippers, have called about Marion:

A source familiar with the situation said Wednesday night that the Heat already has received overtures from the Raptors, Pacers, Clippers and several other teams regarding Marion, who is seeking the type of lucrative extension Heat President Pat Riley appears reluctant to consider.

I think the Clippers have already offered Brand for Marion+ #2 and that we have countered by offering Blount and Banks in place of Marion. They will probably couter that by including their pick in their original proposal, but hopefully Riles will hold out.

Brand for Marion + 2 is very steep
Brand + 7 for Marion + 2 is doable

seems the Pacers and Raptors was probably before the Jermaine trade... not sure what Indy or Toronto has that we'd want? They were each probably offering Jermaine and TJ Ford to us

The closer and closer it gets, the more and more nervous Im getting.

We wont just take Beasley and call it a night. Riley is DYING to unclog the lockjam of a Marion/Haslem/Beasley to play the 3 and 4.

Much like all of you, Id love to trade Marion out of that group to get a solid PG, or a draft pick to get a PG (or Center).

Call me crazy, but Id even trade Marion (and Blount if possible) to get a low lotetery or mid first round pick to nab Roy Hibbert (I actually think he can be a servicable center) or a DJ Augestine (since Indy wont draft him) type of player.

By the way - hi everyone, its great to be back. I just got back from 2 months in Africa working in a hospital in Botswana. Lane, I saw you PMed me, I tried to reply but the site is telling me Im not allowed to reply to PMs? What gives?

Oh I agree, I'm just hypothesizing on what the Clippers have already offered and how negotiations may be proceding. If it's me, I'm keeping Marion out of this deal as he is a lot more valuable to us as a 3rd piece along with Wade-Brand than a young rookie would be, considering we want to win now. I would try to make them take back Blount and Banks at all costs, possibly throwing in Cook as well. I could see us possibly throwing Haslem into the discussion, making it Blount+Haslem+#2 for Brand+7, but I wouldn't do that deal without getting back their pick and would try like hell to dump Banks for Knight as well.

All in all, I really hope we can find a way to get Brand while keeping Marion and Haslem. If we figure out a way to get back their pick as well, we gotta get Bayless as we would desparately need a shooter to space the floor for a Wade-Marion-Brand trio.

Hey Scotty, its Matthew and its good to hear your doing well. No doubt Riley wants to put a stamp on this draft with a big move it's just that it might not be the one we are hoping for :/.

So uhhhh then we have no center or PF. A gift has fallen into our laps but we are oblivious to it(according to the reports).

Hey Matty-

Hope youre doing well too. Im sure I will see you and the rest of the fam while Im down here. Im actually down for 2 months as Im doing a a rotation at Jackson to see if I like the program enough here to do residency here.

Riley is going to make a move tonight. For sure he is. Its just what he wants to make a move doing. I think, that in a perfect world, hed find a way to keep Beasley and then trade Haslem or Marion to get a PG/C or a pick to draft one.

I just dont see that happening. I think thats why he worked out Mayo and Bayless. He knows - in order to get Blount/Banks off the books and to get himself a good PG and/or PF/C, hes going to have to deal the 2nd pick.

Im all for dealing Beasley in all honesty if we get Brand/Bayless. I really think Bayless can fall to the Clippers at 7. I would, however, want to keep Marion in that sitatuon and move him to the 3 - start Bayless, Wade, Marion, Brand, Smoke-A-Fat Blount (or some bull C FA like Diop).

But I see Riley having to deal Marion too to get Brand. Thats a lateral move at best, esp. trading Beasley.

One last thing - if we do, in fact, end up trading Marion + 2 for Brand + 7, then I would really hope we find a way to deal Haslem in a separate deal for Mike Miller and possibly Lowry. I think that Miller is another really good fit on a team with Wade and Brand, and would be able to space the floor really nicely for us.

Bayless/LLE/Banks
Wade
Miller/Wright

WTF?

Beasley + Haslem + Blount for Mayo?

Am I reading that correctly?

I still think #2/Marion for #7/Brand still favors the Clips, as the #7 pick is probably not going to be anything that great. I don't know if this would work salary-wise, but if Riles wants Brand so badly I would want to expand it to

#2/Marion/Blount
for
#7/Brand/Maggette

I'd be ok with that.
