as long as banks contract is included you have to basically say yes. Even if JO doesnt play one expects Joel to get better next season.

so in essence, joel is going to be playing like a $23M player, should JO get hurt.

Right!

We should let Marion expire, and deal with this issue in the off-season.

The main point of the trade would be to get rid of Banks while keeping in line with 2010. If JO is healthy its an dramatic improvement at center.

Bank's contract will be a deal breaker, like you, we don't want to fit take on Bank's ugly contract. Unless you want Kapono back who could very well fit back into Miami's system.

With Daequan Cook emerging as that legit 3 Pt shooter for us, and with James Jones (league leader in 3P% last year) already back, Kapono becomes a luxury at a position we don't need him at.

Did any of you catch Miller's 30pt 22Reb gem last night? I know it was against the warriors, but boy did he have it on!

Plus he is 2010 friendly :)

We'll likely end up ditching Banks' deal on draft day 2010 along with our pick once it's made in some pre-arranged deal.

Can we trade 2 consecutive 1st rd picks? I know we can't trade our 2010 pick right now, because our 09 pick is with Minny. But, can we trade the 2010 pick after the 09 draft is done with? How does that process play out?

Last thing you would want to do is trade a pick. Say Wade gets hurt and with the way Spo is coaching this team would be back in the lottery in no time.

Hey guys, I´m new here, so, can someone explain to me how we can trade Marion for Camby (which I would love) since Camby makes half of Marion salary, and the only other salary that could be dealt is Kaman (Camby+Kaman for Marion and I would put Pat Riley face in the Italy Flag). Because all other contracts are terrible, Davis , Zach ...

While i agree with not trading picks overalll, and Cookie Puss Monster has been a revelation, remember our draft history in the 20's has been poor.

To wit:
Wayne Simien
Dorell Wright (I know, he could explode)
Tim James
Charles Smith
some polish guy

Also, consider if wqe are going whole hog into 2010, we need to minimize our cap holds, and first round picks require cap holds, which is why I think ult8imately if we cannot package Banks with marion or others, we'll ship him to a team with our #1 pick for multiple 2s or something like that.

I believe the rule is you cannot trade consecutive picks once promised. So I think we could potentially trade our 2010 pick the day after the draft, once Minny has used our 2009 pick. And if I am wrong, we can always make the pick on another team's behalf in a prearranged deal.

And a member of Marion's camp even told a league source that Marion has approached Heat ownership requesting the team trade him.

Anyone notice that this sentence has now been removed from Izzy's article?

We can't deal the 2010 pick until after we make it. Technically, we are able to draft a player for another team and then deal him immediately in a deal that was worked out before the pick was made. Similar to what we did with Philly in the Daequan Cook/Jason Smith trade, or how Kobe was traded from Charlotte to LA right after he got drafted in exchange for Vlade Divac. However, the pick needs to be made by us, and then we would be able to trade the rights to that player immediately.

As most of you know, i would love for the Heat to Trade Marion. Is Marion a good player? Yes, every team in the league should want him, but is he worth his contract and is his game going down hill? Yes and yes. The Heat are building for the future, something that Marion is not part of. The guy wants money and credit for winning, 2 things the heat cant give him.Trade him with Banks for any big man whos contract expires in 2010 and call it a day. J.Oneal or Brad Miller, who cares, just get a big man and money out of this. This team is alot better then we think, there only down fall is their lack of size.

PS, I love Chris Quinn!

Is nobody else concerned about the effect that trading Marion is going to have on our defensive versatility, especially out on the perimeter? James Jones is a shooter and plays respectable D, but he isn't going to defend the LeBron's and Pierce's of the world. Wade isn't going to do it, he is a freelancer on D and needs to rest for offense. Cook isn't lock down by any means, especially when forced to defend SFs. Diawara is not good enough offensively to crack the rotation, and he would steal minutes from JJ and Cook. Wright is inconsistent and injured.

Trading Marion for a big is fine, but it better be a shot blocker because we are going to lose our best perimeter defender in this deal.

With that said, if we can include Banks in a deal that gets us a starting C, we should probably do it...

we should be looking for a deal that return a perimeter defender as well.

if we can get Marion/Banks/filler for Miller/Salmons/filler we would be solving both issues at the same time
