You guys realize that what Pat says is probably all nonsense and won’t make a difference. He is indirectly soothing the egos of the players that have been in all the rumors that now may have to wear a Heat uniform next year because the failed to complete trades. It’s all misdirection.

Not only that, but how dumb would it be for negotiations to make it clear you don't want players you have? You drive their prices lower.

OF course he's talking up Herro. He's not stupid like Heat fans who thinks he's terrible and a negative player, but expect to turn him into Damian Lillard.
Of course he's talking up Bam. He was on the team behind Butler that just got the finals.

Exactly. Fans are too impatient. Not much is gonna happen till draft night. Then after the next date to look for is start of FA. If 2 days after start of FA Heat haven't done squat, then we can panic. But its way too early. That's why the Beal stuff smells like collusion. They had no reason to make the trade this early. Could have waited till draft night when majority of the teams will be looking to make moves

Also does that mean Pat is ok with Butler coasting for more than half the season this time, so he can he fresh for the playoff? Last year he coasted until the Allstar break, then he started to care and was playing great. So maybe 3/4 of the season before Butler starts trying again? Most teams I'd say stay away from KPJ, Miami... they could start him at PG, give him the same green light Nunn/Vincent had and have a 20ppg guy on a Robinson contract. I believe Miami can get players under 20 mil a year scoring 20ppg and KPJ is one of those guys like Sexton too. I'd also roll the dice on Wood and Bojan on a high teens scorer but at PF.

I don't like paying top dollar for non proven scoring at the playoff level, I'd rather find "scorers" for much cheaper and expect Spoelstra to get the most out of them.

There's a situation that most Miami fans don't seem to get, players are usually BETTER in Miami under Miami's environment and coaching staff, so when looking at players on the team and players being looked at on another team, please consider the Miami bump they would get being in Miami or the drop off these current players may have if they left Miami.

Not all players. Immature players (like Winslow and Beasley) struggled here.

Beasley more than Winslow, Winslow's issue was with injuries and butting heads with the team on how to handle those injuries. I liked Winslow, just not so much at PG.

Winslow admitted to getting distracted by the high life here and that it impacted his game, body, and mind.

You take him seriously. Because that's what he's done.

He has lost his sense of urgency and hunger. He doesn't want it as bad as he used to.

And the Heat has made 2, almost 3 Finals, out of the last 4 years. So were those the wrong decisions?

Yes. We needed upgrades to put us over the hump. They were the wrong decisions. If he had made the upgrade after losing last year in the ECF, when everyone knew we needed a scorer to pair with Jimmy and Bam.. we would be holding the trophy this year.

Listened to the whole thing. The gist of it was, without naming names:

Getting someone like Lillard would be great as long as it doesn't weaken the team to get such a player. No point in getting a big name and being a worse team.
Getting someone like Beal is reckless. It hurts the team's abilities to make moves later, potentially for years, for someone that ain't that good.
Making smaller moves to improve an already title contender is realistic and he'd be happy if that is all that can be accomplished.
Blowing it up ain't happening.
Talked good stuff about Tyler since he's on the team and people throwing his name around as trade bait.

I don't have the exact quotes but he emphasized the importance of nailing picks now since tax penalties are so draconian and picks are cheap labor relatively speaking. Sounds like we're drafting a guy who can contribute immediately.
