Re: Fire Spoelstra
Fundamentally there are some things going sorely wrong with this so called 'system', as Spo likes to put it.
First of all, there is just no reason for this team be 24th in pace. Last year? I could see it. But this year? There's just no way. No reason at all. Not with THESE athletes. We're playing as if we have the personnel of the 2009 Heat, and that is ridiculous.
And the Joel Anthony experiment has to die. I've seen the light. And if Spoestra doesn't recongize it, than he needs to asap. Our spacing is dreadful with that starting line-up, and disciplined defensive teams are exploiting it(Hornets, Celtics now twice). I had hoped Joel could play a role, but now he doesn't even warrant a spot in the immediate rotation. Hard enough to make an impact when you're giving up that much girth and size, but when you're consistently out of posistion as he's been, that's a whole other issue.
Right now, this is looking like a coach way in over his head.

I'm sorry, but I feel like three of the best 5-10 (depending on who you're talking too) players in the NBA should be able to move the ball on their own.

Re: Fire Spoelstra
Spo is over his head. He looked that way in past years on a much smaller stage. Now he's in front of the entire world. NBA coaches who have won titles are part of an extremely small fraternity. It can be a very thin line that separates them from other coaches. How could Spo lead the very best in the world to the top of their profession? What would lead anyone to believe he could? He has no background for this. You can't spout the rhetoric he does if there's nothing to back it up. Basically, you can't be Pat Riley unless you are Pat Riley.

Re: Fire Spoelstra
Spo also need a new set of asst coaches more so than we need to fire him. P Jackson's genius comes from the Triangle, but that was Tex Winters' doing, not PJ by himself.

Re: Fire Spoelstra
My biggest beef with Spo is his horrible rotations. Why on earth does he sit Wade and Bosh to start the second, while leaving LeBron out there with all role players??? What's the point in having three superstars if you aren't going to at least keep two of them on the court at all times??
Also, it's time to move Joel to the "dog house" in favor of Big Z. Joel is just horrible in every way possible!

For a team with this much talent, you need a coach with equal talent and awe. Riley needed to see if Spoelstra stepped up. Riley will be coach by Xmas.....

Re: Fire Spoelstra
OMG!!!!!! How much can you guys whine about 2 players that are barely playing 10 - 15 mins a game?? They might be starting but they are NOT the freaking reason this team is loosing, is the lack of SIZE in the front court and the lack of a consistent offensive systemare the main reasons imo. Spo did adjust yesterday and sit Carlos early for House, soooo.... common, give spo a fair chance.
Dampier could be a very good solution to our problems, i still dont know why he is not signed, and at least i expected the struggle with implementing the offense. THIS STUFF TAKES TIME!!!!
So please chicken littles, take a deep breath and chill, and lets all hope Riley revisits the Dampier option but stop the trade or fire threads.. its LAME!!! Were 9 games into the season!!!!!

Re: Fire Spoelstra
Just a observation from a celtic fan
Spoelstra isnt helping the team but its not all his fault..
Bosh is soft down low and doesnt rebound or defend to well , he needs to be put beside a center that has some kind of defensive presence ...they do have that on the bench with Juan Howard....I dont know if he is injured but thats the teams best option at center .....Z is to slow and plays on the perimeter which is not good when teamed up with bosh
Lebron can run the point well and just have house out there to keep the defense honest.. but he is better in the open court so they need to rebound and run.....

OMG how can you say 2 garbage players playing 10-15 minutes on a championship team is nothing, especially against the eastern conference champions. Do you realize in all our losses to the celtics and hornets we played from behind because these 2 players played from the beginning? Yes it sounds ridiculous, but it is what it is. You cant always play from behind, and thats is what happens when Arroyo and Anthony start, just because it becomes the opponents 5 against our big 3 everytime, on both defense and offense. If Spo is blind enough to ignore that then he shouldnt be coach. And not to mention now he's calling out his star players egos on national tv, making this heat team the laughing stock of the nba. He's now 10 games in, and the clock is ticking

Isn't that good?
You see how something works - if it doesn't you make adjustments and then see how they work. The aim is to get better and better before the playoffs come round.

It shouldnt have come to that. Everybody knew Arroyo and Anthony were not gonna get the job done, no need to experiment to find that out. Now maybe he would start installing some half court offense whiles he's at it

But arroyo and anthony are who he has. Mario may replace Arroyo when he's fit and healthy. C as we've always known is our weakness this season. You can't get everything in 1 off-season. Too many new fans with unreasonable expectations. At least the older fans can see the progression.

what are these adjustments you speak of?
not starting anthony in the 2nd half for once? That was it?

Re: Fire Spoelstra
Arroyo not playing for the most part and keeping House in the game as he was hot.
No robotic substitution last night, it seemed he actually tried to coach.
Still, can't draw up a good last play, and really cant motivate the players.

Ira mentioned on his twitter that Spo is considering making changes to the starting lineup, probably Chalmers and Z. And this was posted by one of the bloggers on Ira's site:

LOL!!! I just decoded parts of what Riley wrote on the paper when he was taking notes…One part I decoded says Feed Him! (I’m assuming thats Bosh) with the exclamation point. At the top it says something about DW (Dwyane Wade) making a read or something like that but i cant read it clearly. And I just figured out another sentence. It said Take a tech! Hahahaha!

Re: Fire Spoelstra
before we go on this 8 game experiment and ruin more of our season, i can tell you that chalmers isnt the answer either.
z isnt the answer but since we MUST start a traditional lineup, hes the lesser of the evils.

Re: Fire Spoelstra
We can look spectacular at times and will again. I just don't see us winning a championship with Spo and our team is too special to waste a year. Spo is a very good assistant. But it takes so much more to beat the great teams and account for that extremely small margin that wins championships. If Riley were a pirate king then Spo would make a very colorful parrot.
Experimenting with things that seemed blatantly obvious beforehand is not effective. So far, this season has been the worst case scenario but none of our weaknesses have been a surprise. You can't just burn away games as you mess around. The keen basketball minds that coach this team need to use their vast, superior knowledge and reason to make intelligent decisions without experimenting until the obviousness of their mistake keeps punching them in the face.
