Either way the only way they retain both IMO is that Wade considers taking a huge cut and Im just not buying he's going to do that.

Yeah. Wade taking less than what he's worth has never happened before...

Not sure why you're rolling your eyes. Wade took a slight cut to bring in Lebron and Bosh early in his career to build a dynasty. I just don't see any reason for Wade to take 5-6M less to retain Whiteside and still not have depth. 2 totally different situations.

LMAO, why are you being so sensitive. What does this conversation have to do with the Lakers?

Realistically you have no idea what you're talking about regarding our possibilities and the Lakers aren't making the playoffs for years to come, GTFO.

IDK why people are freaking out over Hassan's salary. Yeah we'd love to get him for a few mill less to give us more wiggle room but if we can't we can't. As Barry Jackson reported if all things remain equal Hassan wants to be HERE. There really isn't much else to say.

Question is how much will is cost. Personally I think even his full max is a bargain in this new market but we'll see. He wants to be here and thats whats important. 4yr $84mill vs the full 4yr $91mill isn't that important anyway. The extra money would probably just go to Wade.

If CB comes off of the books we'll have more than enough wiggle room.

He doesn't need to take a pay cut. As things stand Wade could receive $18mill if we max Hassan and up to $24mill if we trade away McBob.

If we lose Hassan though it won't be because of Wade. You should get that out of your head right now. Thats just not how he operates.

Fans are too invested in what a player is making. What happened to just being a fan? the money isn't coming out of any of our paychecks. Some need to get a life and stop worrying about him getting a max contract. Pat Riley and Andy Elisburg are going to figure out how to make things happen. Just shut up and be a fan. That's directed at everyone, including myself.

How do you know exactly how Wade operates? He was hemming and hawing last season b/c he wanted to get paid what he felt he was worth and took a 1 year 20M deal to accomodate the reload. Im just not buying he's taking less than 20M to accomodate signing Whiteside.

I do think Pat is going to do whatever it takes to keep Whiteside but if Wade isn't comfortable taking less then what?

Oh and before you guys get all sensitive and argumentative b/c of the lakers logo. I think they find a way to make Whiteside stay. Im not here to bicker about the Heat or how they should rebuild.

Then you tell Wade like it is. Hassan will cost X amount to resign and we'll have X left unless we can unload some players. You're operating under the premise that Wade would be ok with us losing Hassan on top of Bosh medically being un able to play just so he can earn $2 million more dollars which no one but us would be willing to offer him any way?

This will not be dramatic like last season. Wade said he wants a simple and easy free agency. I think he's resigned within the first 24 hours. Another big 1 yr deal to maintain 2017 flexibility.

I do believe a way to pay him big bucks and keep him under a certain threshold to allow for depth signings is a longer term deal to spread out the cost. 3 years 50M could work. It's really about the total dollars vs the amount per year. I hope my man Bosh can play next year though. One of my favs in the game right now. Doesn't get the respect from casual fans he deserves.

That's not the only time he's signed for less than what he is worth...he took the biggest discount of the big 3 btw. That was more for Udonis Haslem than anyone else.

Wade would do it for Hassan for the same reason Dragic did it for Wade. It wasn't expected, but it happened anyway. There's precedence. He has expressed that he wants to re-sign here without the drama.

"max" is a relative term. Miami can offer him a contract under max that is still more in raw $$$ than any other team can give over the life of the contract when you factor in income tax and raises per season.

Florida is not the only state without income tax.

heat can still offer bigger raises per year.

Also Miami's tax discount is a saving of just a few hundred k over a year , hardly worth considering on 20m a year contracts.

Miami has had some truly great games out of him for pennies over the last 2 seasons , hope you wont hate on him too much if he decides to try his luck elsewhere for max dollars.

Try about $13,000,000 over the span of the contract...

Over $7,000,000 on the yearly 7.5% raises alone...that your team isn't eligible to offer.

That's all nice assuming Pat doesn't trade him. We know Pat and know he would gladly sell signing for less talk about loyalty and then trade him in a heart beat to get say Durant or a Westbrook etc. Business is business.

Again looking at the math and unless we are honesty looking at Wade signing for 10-11 mil in order to get the money to make a somewhat comparable offer to Deng none of this makes any sense. Players like people say one thing then do another.

You wouldn't understand because you are used to having Kobe on your team. Wade is a completely different class and will take less if there is a reason.

I hope Wade takes a bit less but to be honest, He was not only one of our best players this year, on our team, one of the best in the league, but when it counted, one of the best players in the Playoffs. If you want to be fair, Hassan is the one who did not live up to a max contract in the playoffs. That being said, this is about the future. It is a classic dilemma of paying for loyalty and results or paying for future potential. Neither is wrong, I just hope we come away from the off-season negotiations with good vibes and positivity going into next year.

Some of you are missing an important point : of course the money is very important but i don't think this time Hassan will accept to be ignored so often on offense like he was this year. He was very frustrated about it. I believe he got some guarantee from Pat Riley.
I still don't see how can a Dragic and Whiteside work...

Conley is a perfect fit for this team but i dont think we can get him.

Hassan has to work on his cardio specially with that small ball area, he has to run.

Conley is not going to win us a ring. When it comes play-off time we need Hassan. I wanted so bad to see Hassan block Lebron. If we have our team this year Healthy and add Durant, there is no question we win 60 games, 1st seed and have an epic battle against Cleveland. It is a shame that we can't retain and add a player who I am sure wants to come here.

Well at least he wont get destroyed by the first poing guard and dissapeared in the last quarter...
And again if you take Durant, Whiteside is gonna be ignored even more on offense.
