The people I know with inside connections at Duke were saying prior to the latest knee scope for Giles, he had 0 explosion. Athleticism is a big key to Giles and those knees are just too scary for me to take him that high in this draft. Now if he comes back and has his explosion back I may take all this back. If someone could guarantee Giles knees would be fine he would be the easy #1 choice.

Im not going to lie though, the idea of DSJ as your guys PG is just too good to imagine. Hes my #1 in this draft.

And when it comes to Bolden high potential guy buy major major motor question marks. Showed little motor in Duke's scrimmage but in their first exhibition played with a motor and just dominated (against very poor competition). Had 5 blocks, 11 boards (6 offensive) in just 25 minutes. His wingspan is freaking ridiculous. High potential if he decides he wants it.

I've actually never been a big fan of Giles, knees or not. Not a top five in this draft fan at least.

nbadraft.net has us taking Hartenstein with the 11th pick. Yes. Please.

NBADraft.net is all over the place until about a month or so into the NCAA season. Most draft sites aren't much better at this point. Once we get a handful of good looks (preseason doesn't count), then we get an idea of what scouts like.

They also have Tatum at 8 & Allen at 12. Give it a month & we'll have a better idea of what range we're likely to be in and who might be there.

Lol to Grayson going 12th in this draft. Dont get me wrong I love Grayson, my favorite player at the moment, but if you see a mock draft that has him going in this year's lottery automatically pay no attention to it. Also no way Luke Kennard enters this draft.

We're not getting any better than the 13th pick and us getting the 15th pick is the most realistic scenario so far. The only position I don't see us drafting for is SG and PF is the most likely position we'll try to fill with the draft. Jonathan Jeanne looks like Gobert with much more range. High floor, low ceiling.

Deanondraft put out a 2017 draft preview.
https://deanondraft.com/2016/10/20/2017-draft-preview/

He's VERY high on Markkanen, no mention of Hartenstein. I watched some video about the 2017 draft class on youtube and the guy said he thinks Hartenstein could become the best prospect out of Europe of all time. I have no idea.

I hesitate to say "all time" in any comparison of a young guy. Its just too much. However, I like what I've seen a lot out of IH, and would have him in my top five for this draft right now. His overall package is amazing.

Positive of tonight's loss: we're now into a tie for 8th/9th and are only have a game from 4th.

Currently these are the players going at 8/9:
NBADraft.com - Tatum/Isaac
DraftExpress.com - Bolden/Rabb
ESPN Big Board - Monk/Isaac
Bleacher Report - Isaac/Fox

There's a few interesting picks (a slider and a riser), but still that's a good selection.

Next game up is vs Thunder and the Westbrook revenge tour will still be going full throttle, so that could be a loss. We'd have a much better chance of it was he second night of a b2b, but they get a rest day.

We are actually tied for 9th now with a few other teams. There are only three teams in the East with a lesser record than we have.

We are also tied for 9th worst in the league, with only six teams having more losses than we do. Not that that means much this early, but I don't see an outright win on our schedule until Nov 19th at the earliest (six games from now).

However, this team does have enough balance, and enough talent to get some wins regardless, so our positioning could fluctuate wildly from now till then.

Haha, I should have been clearer. It puts us in a tie for the 8th/9th pick. This being the draft thread I didn't even think about clarifying that :D

So five point guards are looked to be top ten in the draft? That could be explain the reason why the Heat may trade Dragic.

Very backcourt heavy at the top of the draft. This is the year that a team like Philly could finally start balancing their roster out. Not the greatest for us, as we have a lot of players in the backcourt.

I'd love to have Josh Jackson, Markelle Fultz, or Isaiah Hartenstein on this team regardless of the players we have now.

JJ looks like a guy who can play 1 thru 3 on either side of the ball. Fultz looks like the best combo guard in a few years. Really talented and smooth. He'd be a superb option at the one for the next decade. IH would complement this roster almost perfectly. Could end up being a huge steal for some dedicated team.

Fultz apparently is still growing.. 6'4 with a 6'10 wingspan. I think his talent would fit so damn well with the pieces we have. I would love to somehow get two picks in this draft.

Two picks would be ideal. I would sacrifice Dragic in a minute if some team felt he was the missing piece and could next us a lotto pick. Get our core age grouping a little tighter and hopefully land a big time talent or two.

The issue there is if he is the missing piece we won't get a lotto pick, more likely early 20s

The Hawks got the 12th pick for Teague and he kinda sucks :dontknow:

Dru Smith very lucky he got that 500k this year. He should invest and manage a subway after all this-MettaWorldPanda

A day later, and we're 12th in the conference-out of 15 teams. :o

Yeah, but that happened after the end of the season. I can see us picking up a late lotto pick for him, from a team that is a PG away from contending. Can't see it happening mid-season though - meaning he possibly adds a couple of wins across the season.
