The reason crap teams and bench players are able to randomly dominate us like this is bc they at least have nba athleticism. They can just impose, beat us off the dribble, out quick us, jump over the top of us, etc. There is a strong drop off in athleticism after Jimmy and Bam on this team, and even Jimmy isn’t some quick, overwhelming high flyer, just super strong. Tyler makes up by having superior skill. The rest of this slow g league team can have all the training they want, they won’t be able to keep up.

Martin and Dipo are good athletes as well but I agree.

Martin has some athleticism, but seemingly below average bball IQ.

It is. No 1 seed in East and ECF finals appearance last season. Finals 3 seasons back.

Yea and then you’re very clearly 1 piece away from a championship and you sit on your hands the entire summer and don’t make a move while losing one of your more important players. The roster construction of this team is terrible and it’s on him and Spo. Bringing in one year 35+ year old journeymen every year isn’t going to cut it

Lol they spent the summer chasing KD. They tried for Mitchell too. Neither wanted what we had to offer. It's a two-way street, no one is just going to hand their star players. They have to want to what you have to offer. And we didn't have much. Herro value was in the tank cuz of last playoffs, and he needed to get paid. The only thing of value was 2 1st round picks from a team that rarely misses playoffs.
The lack of major moves is because our assets are limited. Now they could have made a move for an above average but not all-star player for those picks. But would have that been worth wasting the only assets you had?
I don't fault them for not being able to make a trade and waiting for the trade deadline. My problem was letting PJ go and not using the MLE to get a big body at the 4 positions as a replacement once he left.

Can’t believe how cooked we look after that Celtics win. We’re basically the 20/21 Heat only maybe 5% better. We won’t get to 7-14 but we also don’t look like we’re going anywhere.

We need to do a fire sale. Strus, Duncan, Gabe, Dedmon all gone. Reset and start over.

The biggest flaw in the Jimmy era has been the failure to consolidate our undrafted role players into legitimate veteran talent.

You get used to the highs but the reality is that they Heat play multiple guys who wouldn’t be in the league if not for us. I.E. Duncan, Gabe, Highsmith.

Herro and Bam:

55-18-8 on 21-33 shooting 64%

The rest of the team:

41-22-13 on 12-44 shooting 27%

Pistons bench:

54 points on 19-39 shooting 49%

Heat bench:

19 on 6-20 shooting 30%

We have a few good players surrounded by a bunch of bums and we’re resting our best player for no reason

The “we like our team” arrogance that came from the organization is biting them in the ass right now. It’s a bad team.

So your defense is they wasted the entire summer chasing 2 players they had no chance of getting instead of going after solid players to fill out the roster and make a run for a championship?

A star would’ve been nice but wasn’t necessary, we needed a high level role player or 2 and we were good to go. We had the picks to get it done, sleepy Pat will sleep.

We really don't win when Tyler has a great game. Really interesting to note. Could be confirmation bias on my part.

We can't play a 6'5" g-leaguer at pf. I don't understand how spo is the only coach in the NBA that doesn't realize this. I don't understand the need to not only try and reinvent the wheel, but to do so by using a square design, stubbornly.

Suns win seemed like a turning points, Celtics game seemed like a turning point. Neither were.

Pat Riley is washed and if Spo wasn’t Spo he would’ve just coached his last game of the season either last night or tonight.

A star was necessary to get over the hump because last playoffs it was Jimmy or bust. It remains to be seen whether Bam or Herro can show up multiple games in a series when the team needs them. Bucks don't win a chip if Middleton doesn't step up and play like an allstar. The Heat had to go and get that 2nd reliable star to be true contenders.
If they went out and got PJ Washington or Myles Turner for those 2 picks, they would have been better but not tier 1 contenders. I wouldn't pick them against Bucks or Boston in the playoffs in the East. I understand the thought process of waiting till the deadline before making a move.
But the hole at the 4 position and them being too small is a separate issue. They could have addressed that without trading the picks

That's the one common denominator between the undrafted scrap heap yard pickups, they do not possess length, height, wingspan speed, vertical leap, quick first step, etc. We get Tweeners, and small azz guards who are also slow and provide zero rim pressure. Well if this keeps up, looks like were right back to were we were 3 weeks ago, back on the Tank train....

Boy I wish I could donate my height, athleticism, court vision, and length in my physical prime to those scrubs. Just not my knees lol.

Sorry but no one should be untouchable. Maybe bam being the lone exception

This season is simply the culmination of years of incompetence in the front office.
