This is a great Celtics team, kudos to them for not breaking it up when the pressure was high. If there’s a time to win it is now, but their core has time

Bam played well. He's a 3rd option that maybe can grow into a no 2. He'll likely retire a Heat. Herro on the other hand had to show he could score consistently in the playoffs otherwise he was gonna be traded this summer. This was the worst matchup for him to face being the primary scorer so I feel a bad for him. But when you get paid the expectations come with it with no excuses. As a no 1 option you gotta be able to make easy and tough shots in playoffs and he hasnt been able to. I'll be surprised if he's still a heat player past next season trade deadline.

Why are some fans so quick to give Bam a pass? I'm sorry, but "3rd option" production isn't good enough for the money he's making.

It is what is. There are not a lot of elite defensive centers who can guard the perimeter and protect the rim. It's him and AD who can do both at a high level. There are other teams who have that need, that would be willing to give him max. And lets say Heat move him who can they trade for that gives near equivalent defense ? Noone really comes to mind.

Going into half time down 20 might be a "win" for us!

I'm not impressed by Tatum at all though. Guy has an incredibly skill set, but he just seems content to coast and get his numbers when he can. People knock Brown, but to me he seems way more competitive in the mold of guys like Kobe or Wade even if he is not anywhere near as good.

It's about expectations mostly. In a team bereft of scoring options, Herro is expected to provide it and when he doesn't he gets called out. But that first part isn't Herro's fault nor did he explicitly ask for this. That falls on the shoulders of our FO and their roster creation philosophy. You cannot expect Spo to keep working his magic year after year with a revolving motley crew of a roster :banghead:

Didn't answer my question. I didn't even mention Herro.

Yall have a warped way of valuing players and contracts, someone averaging 20-11-4 while being arguably the best defender in the world is making like $32M a year, he is underpaid and it’s not even debatable.

You got guys like Herro making like $4M less, we had Lowry making $30M a year, we have Jimmy who doesn’t try all regular season and then gets injured before the playoffs about to turn 35 and is making $50M+ a year. Bam and his contract should be the least of your concerns

So tired of the "Bam is arguably the best defender in the world" narrative. Just hyperbole to my ears.

His is and it’s backed by several things, doesn’t matter what you think lol

Offensive boards. Every game. Wonder what roster changes could be made to stop other teams from grabbing all the boards? Its tricky, but there has to be an answer.

how is Herro guarding Horford with Bam and Duncan sitting at 6'10 on the floor
1. Herro 2. Bol Bol 3. Seko 4. Bruno
unless we trade up for Barrett or trade down for PJ Washington

lol. I realized it after I posted, but the simple answer is that Bam atleast gives consistent effort on the defensive side. That's his calling card (as scoring is for Herro), so the fact that Bam isn't scoring much is only an issue for his fans who think he's a top 2 center in this league. For the rest of us, we are happy if he can be aggressive on the offensive end while still providing stellar defense.
